Car Wash

I was wondering if any nismo owners have gone through an automatic (machine) car wash before. I have only hand washed my nismo since I got it but in this cold weather I would really like to just go through a quick easy car wash to get this salt off my car. I remember the dealer told me not to go through a car wash because it could damage the rear spoiler but I was wondering if anyone has done it.

i've gone through a car wash many times, and nothing happened... i've used both kinds too the touchless and the one with the rollers.

just wear a winter hat, use warm water in the buckets, and you're good to go. Its not exactly the most fun thing to do, but its really not that bad if you use hot water in the buckets. The hat keeps your core temperature up so that when you're moving around you don't really need a jacket, and the warm water keeps your hands warm enough.

Ive used automatics this winter for convenience but like you I hand wash during the summer. however whenever I use the automatic I detail spray the whole car when I get it home in the garage. For example Mothers Showtime Detailer. Quick easy and gets rid of anything and everything the automatic left behind.

except the scratches :p

if i were gonna use auto car washes in winter, i'd just use them in summer too. i figure once you go the route of letting your car get scratched up, might as well just do it all the time..

What we dont have guys here that do that man haha, thats funny tho. They just have the big air blow dryers when you pull out to dry off, then I go home and use that quick detailer spray as I dry

I would prefer to hand wash but I have been traveling a bit for work so I am not home during the week and I dont have access to wash it myself. I'll have to check if there are any touchless car washes in the area. Thanks for the feedback guys!

My dad found a coin operated car wash on Long Island. Basically just use it for the power washer. Wouldn't use there brush though, brought my own wash cloth and bucket.

I've done this with my daily driver a couple off times.

The problem with car washes is that you do not know what chemicals they use. this could strip the wax you have on your car and make it worse in the long run. Also you run into scratches even from the touchless ones because it blows everything around it onto around your car. I would not use one for these reasons. It would be better to let you car be dirty until you can do the wash the right way than have the wax stripped leaving it unprotected to the elements.

I posted previously, I had one open and rip off the gas lid. Make sure you keep the car locked (re-lock if you turn off the engine) when you go through one.
