Haha yup. I have to finance my insurance so the payments are lower too. I have a duie and 10 points on my license. Living in the nj doesn't help either and of course it being a sports car. I probably should be driving Cube instead huh.

The japanese version comes with Nav. I wonder why the US version didn't. But the navs that you can buy fit in the center storage bin pretty nice. I had some left over foam pieces and wedged my garmin 255 in there. Looks cool. And that sucks for insurance prices. Damn I would drive something else before paying that much and just wait till my points go down.

I like the leather seats on mine... and my 19 year old Acura seats weren't cracked or hard - just worn out on the bolster.

I like the Nismo look a lot, but I wanted something with more features than the NSX. If I could have gotten a Nismo/Touring/Nav/7AT, that would have been my choice.

I don't think the Nismo suspension would be worse than my Bilstein/lowered NSX, and I know it wouldn't have been worse than my HKS Rally setup on my MR-2, which I daily drove for ten years. It was so stiff the mechanic asked me if I wanted it taken off after his test drive, before I had driven it! :D

Urbanracer 01-05-2011 12:39 AM

The marginal performance differences between the base/sport and the nismo are just that, marginal, which means that about 99% of the drivers on this site can't drive or will never push the car to a level where it would ever make a difference or need to make a difference. I hate to say it but I got my nismo for close to or less then what some people paid for their touring packages, and if your a guy like me that doesn't need all the extras like nav, leather, heated seats in your sports car then the nismo is a good choice. In most cases if your going to put aftermarket wheels and tires on your base/sport your pretty much at the price or exceeding the price of a nismo in some cases. Obviously we all bought the car for difference reasons or uses. So just enjoy your car, no one cares if you think you got a better deal or are out pacing a nismo at a level your not even able to drive too. Sure it would be nice if the nismo came with an extra 70hp but nissan in their infinite wisdom decided not too.

To the the OP, I think alot of people are selling for three reasons, 1) finacial difficulties, 2) impulse buy, 3) people bought it as a daily driver and found out that its not working out as nicely as they thought. I use mine as a weekend cruiser and a little track duty and its not my primary mode of transportation so it works out well for me. To me it really doesn't make sence to buy a Z without another vehicle in the household that has more passenger space and hauling abilities.

I wonder if people also realized they paid significantly more but got relatively less for their money. Marginal at best performance gains and no leather, no heated seats, no nav...

You get a plaque with your Nismo car number though, so that's gotta be worth $5k alone.

Nice comment but its just your opinion. Different drivers want different things in a sports car.

"Relatively less" is completely subjective in this case and is based on what one needs and desires in a car. In my case I spent less on the nismo then a sport/touring would have cost me, trading those things for a better looking Z with wheels that I wouldn't have to swap out was well worth it. Even the bose system would have been a waste since I would have replaced it. If my Z was my daily driver I would have given alot more consideration to those items, but then again buying a two seat car as a daily driver wouldn't be a smart decision on my part. Again, all comes down to ones opinion and what your needs are in a car.

Historically, limited production cars fetch a better resale then base models so there may be some value in the plaque.

To each his own, be happy with what you bought and enjoy driving it. If the car puts you in your happy place then its doing everything that it should and nothing anyone else says should ever matter.

2011 Nismo#91 03-14-2011 04:30 PM

I like my NISMO regardless of what people may say about here looks or added pounds.

"You know how you always read car reviews that say stuff like, "Even though [whatever] can hoof it around the Nürburgring in less time that it takes you to blink, it's equally happy just limping around town in second gear?" Well the Nismo is totally unhappy to limp around town in second gear. In fact, it's miserable and it lets you know just how displeased it is via the aforementioned grunts, groans and clanks. They're like a warning chime, "Please sir, you're not flogging me hard enough.""

And that's why I love her.

jubei 03-21-2011 10:47 AM

If you look at the msrp for Nismo vs. loaded 370z, the base is MORE expensive. By the time you add in the better flowing exhaust, body kit to cover that bucktoothed grin, and a proper set of custom rims that are probably heavier, you just blew the Nismo base price out of the water. Yes, 70hp more would have been nice, but in reality, how often would we get to use it?? Plus we should all be thankful that we got an excellent sports car for cheap!!! Anybody remember the price for a new TT 300zx (60k if you forgot)?? That's why the Z was cancelled in the US in the '90s.

Every chance they get it's nismo bashing time. They are just upset that other people don't think the way they do. That peoples tastes differ. That when parked next to a nismo it nothing special looking, looks regular. When I first got my nismo I ran 5.3/13.8 just like the motorweek review. Heard all the pros say this vq engine breaks in much later. I now have over 4k miles. According to my gtech pro I now see 4.9/13.4... I could get a base vette but damm the grand sport looks so much cooler...:driving:

johnnieg 03-31-2011 05:23 AM

Vett ? I had one new in 05 was a total **** box... Hey a Nismo is a Nismo its different like i said before every one is driving a Camaro or Challenger today well at least on long island ..... I cant go any place with out someone asking about my car...And i do agree its not a every day driver you need a more practical car , at least in the northeast... And this is coming from a guy who has many different cars over the years.. Plus i got it cheap!!

Well, I had a 2011 PW Touring/Sports/NAV etc on order and it was cancelled last Friday. My dealer was prepared to give back my deposit but asked if I would want him to locate another Z, he found the MB NISMO I drive today and I have no regrets at all. It's AWESOME having a car in my area that NO ONE ELSE has! Everywhere I go it turns heads!

fuct 03-31-2011 01:17 PM

heres how its been with my nismo. someone sees i for the first time and says

friend- "damn! what is this?"

me- "370Z nismo edition"

friend- "wow, it looks amazing!, did it come with those wheels and body or did you add them."

me- "no it came with all this" (then i pull out the smart phone and show them a touring model)

me- "heres a regular Z"

friend- "ohhh, wow that looks much different. and boring! why does it have a catfish face and horrible offset on the wheels?"

me- "it just does, its still a Z though"

friend- "ehh, i guess."

$100 says anyone who shows off their touring Z doesnt whip out a picture of a nismo.

this post wasnt made to hate on the touring model, just telling ya how it is.

Bodytechz 03-31-2011 02:16 PM

I have no doubt that I would have been happy with my Touring/Sports if my order wouldn't have been cancelled, but WOW, my NISMO is so fun to drive and looks fricking HOTTT!!! I'm proud to pull up next to ANY other car and be content with what I'm driving. Absolutely NO regrets! :happydance:

You obviously dont know what your talking about. Why dont you take a look at what the body kit alone sells for. The real one, not the lesser quality one. Then the rims and other parts that it has, and you would see that you do get what you pay for...

Jumping into this argument; some people sell their nismos because they didn't do enough research to realize that the harshness, manual transmission in bad traffic, louder noise in nismos would be some they couldn't tolerate over the long run. Other reasons could be purely monetary or change in family situation I guess.

Spearfish, no hate but you are dead wrong about your statement. Most on this forum are willing to pay premium money for the upgraded Nismo rims, brakes, suspension, beautiful body kit, Nismo CBE, badging... all of which if you were to add to a base or touring would set you pretty close or above the Nismo pricing. It always amaze me the number of members with non-nismo trims longing for the nismo upgrades yet turning around and hating on the forum nismos peers :p It's all Zs the Nismos just look so darn better unless you want to spend another 5k just on the body kit ;)

Forum member Jordo made some great posts about how non-nismo trims need to add CBE, TP, tune (thus more money over the nismo upgrades) just to catch up to bone stock nismos. You do the math once the Nismo also get the same CBE, TP, tune... No Nav, heated seats, bose speakers are features that can be taken care of for a very marginal cost.

I like the 370z touring but I love the nismo, on numerous occasions, random people gave the thumbs up to the nismo over the non-nismo. By now I'm sure most nismo owners are used to all the stares/flirting at stop lights and at chauffered mercedes execs, porsches, audis & bmws chasing us around just to figure what the make and model of the car is :tiphat:

oh my god man, please! Dont flatter yourself here, lose the self righteous bit too while you are at it. The ratio of these people "longing for the nismo upgrades" is tiny, minimal, at BEST!! The meat of use know that way better parts can be had for the money, so dont generalize the masses with the few exceptions. :bowrofl: I dont why ANYONE would pay 2-3K for some nismo rims when you can get VOLKS for the same...basically anything coming from a nismo car i usually see bargain shoppers buying, why I dont know...better parts can be had for the price, but hey there is a sucker born every minute. And to call a Nismo Bone is stock is ridicules. It has an upgraded exhaust, a tune, and a suspicion that a change to VVEL has been made. Bone stock, no...sorry dont think so....throw a TRUE STOCK 370Z exahust and detune the nismo ECU to a TRUE STOCK 370Z tune, slap em both on a dynojet and i can promise you they will be both within 5rwhp +/- there is NOTHING special about your engine from ours. Theres is absolute no "hating" as you want to put it either, its more like: please snap out of your dream, and join the rest of us in reality, your car was not made from baby jesus DNA.

This pretty much sums it up right here lol. Also, most people on this forum that don't have the nismo model just assume we paid the sticker price for it, when in fact that is rarely the case. I got my nismo brand new out the door for less than most people paid for the sports model.

only and exclusivley to prove that the nismo Z is just like any other 370Z when it comes to engine and power. The Nismo is sold modified and tuned therefore it dynos more "stock" than regular 370Z, but in fact its not stock. Yea i know... but people keep complaining that it isn't worth the extra 5k we pay over a base+sport.

I mean if it wasn't worth it then why buy a 370z and not a miata and just modify that? Or just buy a miata shell and drop an LSx in it? End price may be almost just as much as a base 370z and you get much more power and a better power to weight ratio than most cars in the streets.

All the nismo owners bought the nismo because it was worth it. None of us care for the minor power bump that came with it. I mean sure it's nice to have all the little extras but 99% of us bought the nismo for it's looks, not the power.

I totally agree, its worth the extra money for just the Body kit period. The suspension tweaks, rims tune are just extra perks on top. I hate my fangs, ill be the first to say they are pretty hideous. When i had my 350, one of the best front bumpers ever was the Nismo V2, so sexy...hopefully they will come out with something like this in the future, or ill just wait for another company

agreed. this is the only reason why i bought the nismo to be honest. nismo vs base/sport was only a few more g's when i was dealing with the sales guy. figured id save myself the headache and spend a bit more for a body kit.

oh and the reaction i get from people on the roads are priceless. i had some below 12yr old girl roll down her dads car window and tell me she loves my car. i waved and said thanks. then today i had a little body in a mercedes suv next to me roll down his window and say "ohhh its so awesome!"

i know im just driving a nissan for christs sake, but the fact that no one knows what a nismo is, is pure awesomeness!

You know I got kinda hyped up when I read GZ3's posts in regard to the Base Sport / NISMO. I was going to write a response until I saw his last post and then decided not to. I just want to know what you guys think stock means? Also, if that is the case identify YOUR meaning up front so that there is no confusion. It seems that whole debate stems from packages or options offered from the factory.

I bought a NISMO because I like the way it was setup from the factory. My origional intent was to buy a Base Sport and buy all sort of stuff for it. Fortunately for me, a good majority of the things that I wanted to change were things already addressed the with the NISMO edition. Truthfully, the only reason I got a CBE is because I wanted it to sound as good as it looked. But whaterver dudes.....................
