I like the leather seats on mine... and my 19 year old Acura seats weren't cracked or hard - just worn out on the bolster.
I like the Nismo look a lot, but I wanted something with more features than the NSX. If I could have gotten a Nismo/Touring/Nav/7AT, that would have been my choice. I don't think the Nismo suspension would be worse than my Bilstein/lowered NSX, and I know it wouldn't have been worse than my HKS Rally setup on my MR-2, which I daily drove for ten years. It was so stiff the mechanic asked me if I wanted it taken off after his test drive, before I had driven it! :D |
The marginal performance differences between the base/sport and the nismo are just that, marginal, which means that about 99% of the drivers on this site can't drive or will never push the car to a level where it would ever make a difference or need to make a difference. I hate to say it but I got my nismo for close to or less then what some people paid for their touring packages, and if your a guy like me that doesn't need all the extras like nav, leather, heated seats in your sports car then the nismo is a good choice. In most cases if your going to put aftermarket wheels and tires on your base/sport your pretty much at the price or exceeding the price of a nismo in some cases. Obviously we all bought the car for difference reasons or uses. So just enjoy your car, no one cares if you think you got a better deal or are out pacing a nismo at a level your not even able to drive too. Sure it would be nice if the nismo came with an extra 70hp but nissan in their infinite wisdom decided not too.
To the the OP, I think alot of people are selling for three reasons, 1) finacial difficulties, 2) impulse buy, 3) people bought it as a daily driver and found out that its not working out as nicely as they thought. I use mine as a weekend cruiser and a little track duty and its not my primary mode of transportation so it works out well for me. To me it really doesn't make sence to buy a Z without another vehicle in the household that has more passenger space and hauling abilities. |
this thread makes me think about how long i will keep my nismo :) J/K

this thread is dumb. so is every other nismo vs. touring thread.

I wonder if people also realized they paid significantly more but got relatively less for their money. Marginal at best performance gains and no leather, no heated seats, no nav... You get a plaque with your Nismo car number though, so that's gotta be worth $5k alone. |

"Relatively less" is completely subjective in this case and is based on what one needs and desires in a car. In my case I spent less on the nismo then a sport/touring would have cost me, trading those things for a better looking Z with wheels that I wouldn't have to swap out was well worth it. Even the bose system would have been a waste since I would have replaced it. If my Z was my daily driver I would have given alot more consideration to those items, but then again buying a two seat car as a daily driver wouldn't be a smart decision on my part. Again, all comes down to ones opinion and what your needs are in a car. Historically, limited production cars fetch a better resale then base models so there may be some value in the plaque. To each his own, be happy with what you bought and enjoy driving it. If the car puts you in your happy place then its doing everything that it should and nothing anyone else says should ever matter. |

I like my NISMO regardless of what people may say about here looks or added pounds.
"You know how you always read car reviews that say stuff like, "Even though [whatever] can hoof it around the Nürburgring in less time that it takes you to blink, it's equally happy just limping around town in second gear?" Well the Nismo is totally unhappy to limp around town in second gear. In fact, it's miserable and it lets you know just how displeased it is via the aforementioned grunts, groans and clanks. They're like a warning chime, "Please sir, you're not flogging me hard enough."" And that's why I love her. |
If you look at the msrp for Nismo vs. loaded 370z, the base is MORE expensive. By the time you add in the better flowing exhaust, body kit to cover that bucktoothed grin, and a proper set of custom rims that are probably heavier, you just blew the Nismo base price out of the water. Yes, 70hp more would have been nice, but in reality, how often would we get to use it?? Plus we should all be thankful that we got an excellent sports car for cheap!!! Anybody remember the price for a new TT 300zx (60k if you forgot)?? That's why the Z was cancelled in the US in the '90s.

Well, I had a 2011 PW Touring/Sports/NAV etc on order and it was cancelled last Friday. My dealer was prepared to give back my deposit but asked if I would want him to locate another Z, he found the MB NISMO I drive today and I have no regrets at all. It's AWESOME having a car in my area that NO ONE ELSE has! Everywhere I go it turns heads!

heres how its been with my nismo. someone sees i for the first time and says
friend- "damn! what is this?" me- "370Z nismo edition" friend- "wow, it looks amazing!, did it come with those wheels and body or did you add them." me- "no it came with all this" (then i pull out the smart phone and show them a touring model) me- "heres a regular Z" friend- "ohhh, wow that looks much different. and boring! why does it have a catfish face and horrible offset on the wheels?" me- "it just does, its still a Z though" friend- "ehh, i guess." $100 says anyone who shows off their touring Z doesnt whip out a picture of a nismo. this post wasnt made to hate on the touring model, just telling ya how it is. |
I have no doubt that I would have been happy with my Touring/Sports if my order wouldn't have been cancelled, but WOW, my NISMO is so fun to drive and looks fricking HOTTT!!! I'm proud to pull up next to ANY other car and be content with what I'm driving. Absolutely NO regrets! :happydance:

Will the fast five be good for the nismo or bad?

Jumping into this argument; some people sell their nismos because they didn't do enough research to realize that the harshness, manual transmission in bad traffic, louder noise in nismos would be some they couldn't tolerate over the long run. Other reasons could be purely monetary or change in family situation I guess.

I like the 370z touring but I love the nismo, on numerous occasions, random people gave the thumbs up to the nismo over the non-nismo. By now I'm sure most nismo owners are used to all the stares/flirting at stop lights and at chauffered mercedes execs, porsches, audis & bmws chasing us around just to figure what the make and model of the car is :tiphat: |

I mean if it wasn't worth it then why buy a 370z and not a miata and just modify that? Or just buy a miata shell and drop an LSx in it? End price may be almost just as much as a base 370z and you get much more power and a better power to weight ratio than most cars in the streets. All the nismo owners bought the nismo because it was worth it. None of us care for the minor power bump that came with it. I mean sure it's nice to have all the little extras but 99% of us bought the nismo for it's looks, not the power. |

Well, I had Z Touring/Sports/NAV and all the bells and whistles on order, it was cancelled and I ended up with a Nismo, no regrets, not 1. I LOVE IT. :happydance:

I love the white Nismo. Anyone want to trade for a 40th?

oh and the reaction i get from people on the roads are priceless. i had some below 12yr old girl roll down her dads car window and tell me she loves my car. i waved and said thanks. then today i had a little body in a mercedes suv next to me roll down his window and say "ohhh its so awesome!" i know im just driving a nissan for christs sake, but the fact that no one knows what a nismo is, is pure awesomeness! |
You know I got kinda hyped up when I read GZ3's posts in regard to the Base Sport / NISMO. I was going to write a response until I saw his last post and then decided not to. I just want to know what you guys think stock means? Also, if that is the case identify YOUR meaning up front so that there is no confusion. It seems that whole debate stems from packages or options offered from the factory.
I bought a NISMO because I like the way it was setup from the factory. My origional intent was to buy a Base Sport and buy all sort of stuff for it. Fortunately for me, a good majority of the things that I wanted to change were things already addressed the with the NISMO edition. Truthfully, the only reason I got a CBE is because I wanted it to sound as good as it looked. But whaterver dudes..................... |
