Driving Tips

I'm sure there are better drivers in here then me and its been awhile since I drove a stick. But how the hell do you guys launch with the VDC off? I get nothin but wheel spin. Not even hard launches. And if I do a hard launch say 2k - 3k rpms with the VDC on I still get some wheel spin. The VDC light comes on, my back end kinda gets loose, kinda fun, but it seems like it would go so much faster if it could just bite. And switching gears, when I'm gunnin it and doing fast shifts it feels like there is a delay from the time I have switched and engaged the clutch to going to the rear tires. Is that typical from the kind of differential 370s have? Even at higher speeds, gear switching from 3rd to 4th to 5th it feels like there's a delay. The Nis is lovin the cold weather and the drop ins. Best 0-60 5.3 secs.

Oh, like that.... Played with VDC off, better to leave it on unless I wanna drift or something. Found out our rear ends are slow to react and some stickier tires would be best. And with S mode on gotta time the shifts a little different. Luv this car.:driving:

Glad you like the Z! Wish I had that extra 50 horsepower in my 08 Nismo! haha. Anyway, best of luck and always use the search button. It will help you from getting flames in the future! :tiphat:

Part of the issue is having warm tires. If you ever do a track day, you'll see how much more tack you have on warm tires than on cold tires. For all intents and purposes, your tires never warm up fully while street driving. You'd probably get better launches with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires than a set of cold summer tires.

Not sure where the OP lives, but our tires SUCK on cold pavement. Once the outside temp is in the 40's, there's just no point in trying to launch on cold tires.

No Fun Tires

:eekdance:Agree, I was a little disappointed with rear end bite also. Still in the break in period, honoring the 1200 mile low RPM. Tried a little speed shifting whilst keeping her under 3k and she got slick. Hope the tires perform better when the weather warms up.
