Baffled: Rear Tires
 

Hello, new to forum. Been reading posts and finding a lot of info but can't find anything so I thought I would join and post about it. I have a 2010 370z Nismo and have noticed that my rear tires, looking from behind, are angled. In other words when I look at them, the tires, they are not sitting flat to the ground. They are angled / / \ \ like so. The left is slightly more angled than the right. I looked and looked and had ppl look to see if they notice it too. And they say yeah they are. Is there something wrong or are they suppose to be that way? I would look at another nismo but none are available to look at. Do any of you notice this on your nismos? :driving:

There is slight negative camber on the rear wheels...that is normal.

They are angled like this so that they sit more flat when cornering. As the body rolls the tires will "flatten" out against the ground better than if they were aligned straight up and down (|| ||).

This is referred to as "camber".

Negative camber (// \\) in the rear actually improves stability during a turn as it does allow for a bigger and more even (from inside and outside) contact patch on the tire's surface. This results in better grip and allows for greater lateral forces to be applied before lateral slip (rear end slipping) and over-rotation occurs.

Great, thanks for the replies. I guess it just has a little more on the left one than the right. I didn't know you could adjust the camber on the rear. :nutswinger:
