Best Short Ram?

Hey Guy,

I have been reading the threads all day about what is the best intake. I am really hesitant to get a Gen 3 as i do not want the hastle of taking off the bumper but my main focus is HP gain. So, you can see my controversy haha. Does anyone have any feedback on what might have a decent HP gain for a Short Ram?

If you want HP gains then you have to go CAI, if you want a slight HP bump without taking the bumper off then you can get some drop in filters for the stock intakes. Stay away from SRI if you want more HP.

i guess the best short ram would be Top Secrets at $1100..theres a thread somewhere where they got more hp&tq over the Stillen V3's...expensive however..

Taking your bumper off is really easy to do. I thought like you till I did it, and thought "is that it?" lol

The stock intake is best unless you go long tube. Better yet, put the money towards the exhaust system.
Taking the bumper off is easier than you think and can be done by a novice in less than 30min.'s. The hardest part is arranging the bolts as you take them off. It's a bit nerve racking the 1st time you do it, but once you see how to remove it, it will take you half the time. I do understand why you wouldn't go this route though since it would mean removing the bumper every time you need to clean the filter.

K&N claims 14 HP increase. I got 6 with 20 degree hotter after dynos. I'm happy and butt dyno approves, and no ~30 min bumper removal required. (funny how it always takes me like 4X the stated install times to do stuff) Took me longer to install the Short rams so I don't buy it. I must suck

Hey Thanks,

And this is the short ram, not the drop in's, right?

Thanks for the input. What is the best way to take out those "clips" on the top of the bumper? I have broken a ton of those in my time and the last thing i want is the bumper to not sit correctly or to be loose somehow... Maybe i'll think about taking it off as a practice run and see how it goes...

You just pull... carefully.

Carefully pry the center part and pull. That's it.

6 hp?! wow, that's it... Thats not even half of what they claim. Oh well, glad I went drop in.

Doesn't the CAI simply move your mid range power and put it at the top end? I've talked with numerous guys that say adding a CAI is simply re-arranging your power band, not really adding more.

I got K&N typonn kit and i like it alot. I do get heat soak while sitting at long lights but once u get moving everything cools down. Butt dyno likes, and it sounds great too! Plus no bumper removal.

Nismoracer 12-02-2010 10:39 PM

Does anyone have a before and after result for the typhoon intake? Not dynos or butt tests but an actual improvement in 0-60mph or 1/4 mile? I'm thinking about getting this intake again. If anything it would help drown out the ever so loud engine noise. Kinda sad when your engine is just as loud or louder than your exhaust. :icon17:

K&N drop-in filters with HPS post MAF tubes
