Pilot Sport 4S for the Nismo
Hi all,
I have to change the tires of the '14 nismo and I'm looking forward to installing the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Unfortunately I cannot find the tire dimensions that match my vehicle. (Front 245/40 R19 98Y, Rear 285/35 R19 99Y) Has anybody gone with these tires? in case not, any suggestion for my Nismo?(only premium brands) Thanks in advance! |
285 square, 275 square, 265 & 305 setup. 275 & 305 is also close enough to spec. 255 & 295.

I live here in Florida where it rains a lot in the summer and the Potenza's were actually a little scary to drive with in wet conditions. They broke loose all the time and lost grip when I wasn't expecting them to. Now with the 4S's I can still drive aggressively in the rain and there are no surprises. I can even get on full throttle in second gear and it just sticks. Even when shifting from 1st to 2nd under full throttle the car sticks and plants on wet roads. If you're wanting to slide your Nismo around then you'll hate these tires, but if you're looking for performance and really want to push your car to the limits you really cant beat them. By the way I found mine on Tire Rack in the original OEM fitment. |
I agree with everything EHALL said. OEM had very short life, about 13k. I live in michigan with a 16 nismo and have put about 20k on the 4s. Only caution is cold weather. Below 45 they begin to get loose like any other summer tire.

Go with these:
265/35 19 305/30 19 which is what I have or 255/35 19 295/30 19 The 4S's look more aggressive and have shoulders that are rounded vs the Super Sport which I also love. They're great tites. |

I currently have 19x9.5 +22 front and 19x10.5 +15 rear. |
Not an expert but I think....conservative....
5mm spacer on the front. 3mm spacer for the rear. |
5mm front
Effective 19x9.5 +17 (23mm outboard of stock setup) 10mm rear Effective 19x10.5 +5 (18mm outboard of stock steup) |

The nismo is the same as the base, no chance to the fenders, at least when u take off the stupid flares |

Front i have 19x9.5 +22 To mount 255/35R19 on 19x9.5 i need to be in +17? Rear i have 19x10.5 +12 To mount 295 or 305/30/r19 i need +10 offset? If so, with 5mm spacers, would you recommend longer studs or will the stock stud be sufficient? I hate to beat on a dead horse but i just got more confise with the last 2 comments. Thanks. |
You can easily throw a 255 on a 9.5" and a 295 or 305 on a 10.5". No inner clearance issues with those sizes and offsets. My comments about "XXmm outboard..." are relative to the fender line.
5mm spacer is the largest I'd go while retaining the stock studs. Anything larger requires extended studs or bolt-on spacers. Some may recommend extended studs even for the 5mm spacer. |

I purchased these for my 16 nismo in the spring of this year. No regrets. Great grip, and has more grip when wet than the oem.

https://tiresvote.com/articles/sport...mer-tire-test/ Not only that but also, you can find a very comprehensive tire test from tire reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NcenJ0zmAY&t=197s To sum it up: Continental SportContact 6 wins the category as the sportiest feeling and dry handling. Taking into account the weather here in Spain I decided to go with the German ones (why not?). I've struggled to find the rear 285/35/19 OEM sizes for the Contis. At the end, a pair were found (unfortunately DOM 7/16) and mounted today with the front ones 245/40/19 (manufactured on 25/19). You think it was over? Of course not. This was just the begginig. Right after stepping outside the repair shop, I quickly noticed that driving over 70 mph a huge vibration at the steering wheel appeared. I though the tires should be out of balance by far. And they were! all of them. I don't know if it's because it has been the first tire replacement in my nismo but it took them to balance and rebalance the four tires twice each!! Finally I think the got the point, but from this day I'm sure I will be pretty unconfident with that issue, checking and rechecking any new vibration in the steering wheel. Additionaly, after cleaning all wheels to seal the new rubbers. I found two scrachtes in my beloved Nismo rear wheels (see images attached). Seriously, How can it be possible??? For me they are the most beautiful ones for any Nismo! Hard day at office, tryning not to be pesimistic. But sometimes, reality steps over you... HARD., no matter your ilusions (personal insight). How to maintain inmaculate your wheels? I just don't know. By the way, I will be giving periodic feedback about the ¿best? summer tires in market. Stay tuned! Bye! |
 those are my favorite Nissan wheels of ALL time. how sad they damaged them like that, TIME to open a can of WHOOP ***!

First 150 miles of Continetal SportContact 6
First things first. A new set of tires makes you first run feel like riding cloulds instead of roads. The last months with the Potenzas you could feel literally everything from the road with a huge rolling resistance.
The new Contis show and great low rolling resistance with less parasite noises into the cabin. It simply feels gummy but at the same time enough solid to give you all the information you need to face the next curve. It shows a very pointy behaviour at the limit. Let's see the durability! |

So I’m about to buy some new tires. I’m a stock 16 nismo - can I do 4S at 255/295 no problem?
Does it change driving style or anything? Anything I should be aware of? |

So I’m just looking to only change them to 255/295. Not change anything else. |
I've used the stock Bridgestone's, then PS4's and finally Contential ExtremeContact Sport.
The Bridgestone's suck, they wore out instantly and in FL they slide in the rain badly. The PS4 were great, they wore slowly but Contential's new tire is just as good as alittle bit cheaper. I've had the Extreme Contact Sports in the rear for about 25k miles and they have about 50% life left. I haven't been doing burn outs ;P |
PS4's or ExtremeContacts
I have been a pattern of wearing times in the F & R. I'll probably go with the ExtremeContacts on the front and back. Current I have 245 PS4 in the front and 285 ExtremeContact in the rear. They both have been in almost freezing temperatures for almost two years in Atlanta, still about 45-50% life. |
