Should I pay sticker for a 09 Nismo?

I'm in Augusta GA and the local dealer said that they only sell Nismos at sticker. Is this true for Nismos or was the sales person just trying to get me out of there because they were closing early for New Years?

vipor 01-01-2010 02:12 PM

no, that's terrible. i got mine for $200 over invoice back in august. you should be able to get one for much less than that.

Urbanracer 01-01-2010 02:37 PM

Yeah, sales guy is jerking you around. If anyone has an 09 nismo on the lot yet they are looking to move it. I got mine two months ago for $800 under invoice and had them through in a $300 car cover as part of the deal.

Midax 01-01-2010 02:54 PM

Good to know. I really think she was just trying to get me out of there because they were closing early.

Urbanracer 01-01-2010 03:08 PM

I just happen to see one on ebay with 100 miles for $35,500 from a dealer, thats a hell of a deal.

stiso 01-01-2010 03:43 PM

ripping you off, an 09 should get a few hundred below invoice with 0%-3.99% financing if you have good credit.....try another nissan dealership. Remember always be prepared to walk, if they know you want it, the negotiations are over, YOU LOSE!

Midax 01-02-2010 01:39 PM

In the end I payed 37600 for it. It had the floor mats, kick plates, ect. I don't see how those are options. I probably could have talked them down more, but I didn't feel like haggling any more.

Matt 01-06-2010 06:19 PM

Gratz on the new Nismo!

I live in Augusta and probably went to the same dealership as you. They are very, very hard to work with if you get the wrong sales person.

My Nismo was right at 38k back in October. Similarly, they gave me the sticker speech as well, but I called them out on it and stood firm on my offer. Same as you, I felt I could have knocked a little more off of it, but 6 bucks less on my payment wasn't worth me having a heart attack at the dealership. That's just me though.

Let us know how you like the car!

Blackcrimzon 01-06-2010 07:26 PM

Dealers can go below the sticker price no matter what they say. Even if its only 200 dollars as that’s the only amount I could get off from mine. I wasn’t even trying to buy one that day. I just happened to go in and ask about getting a base model. Well they didn’t have any left in a manual and I wasn’t going to get one in an automatic. So I did end up buying the Nismo. Really in the end I think it comes down to if they cut you a fair deal. Yes its true you might get it cheaper or you might not. If they didn’t charge you more then the sticker price then you did good. If you can afford the monthly payments to were your not eating top ramen noodles and kool aid each night for dinner then your good. Not that anything is wrong with eating ramen and kool aid lol but you get my point. Really if your happy and they didn’t charge you a ton of money then whats really the difference? In the end if your happy that is all that matters. And hey you have a Nismo so smile :)

I paid $36,100 for mine...Metro Nissan out of CA. It had 76 miles on it...series #196.

Invoice means nothing...find a dealer that's got one on the lot. Mine arrived in July, so the dealer was motivated to sell it.

Q. Are there any unlucky numbers in Japan?

A. The Japanese don't like the number 4 and 9 because of their pronunciation. Four is pronounced "shi" which is the same pronunciation as death. Nine is pronounced "ku" which has the same pronunciation as agony or torture.

There are many hospitals that don't have these numbers as the room number or even the floor number. The Japanese also dislike Friday the13th, though many of them are not Christians. There are no seats with numbers 4, 9 and 13 on passenger planes of the All Nippon Airways.

That is a pretty good number in terms of status in the likes of production number. If they actually believe what you were talking about, I can see how that one made it to the States. Does anyone know if the production plates include all NISMO Zs or if they are market specific

Grats to everyone that has a NISMO Z.

Mick:

What color did you get and how long did it take from the time that you ordered or closed your deal?

i got me a silver one.
the last time i bought a car (mb) it took them 2 months to build and ship it to the us, so i figured it would take some time before i got the 370z nismo being this was a limited production car. wrong! I came to the dealer on Jan 2 and i picked up the car the very next day.

i got mine for 37K first day on the lot #138 solid red

zinistr 01-19-2010 07:56 AM

Mick...yes, 3, 5 & 7 are preferred numbers. Even #1 would be considered bad luck in Japan. I met "Pete" Atsugi with Autech in 2008 in Japan...saw the full-size clay model prior the the Nismo's release and was hooked. When discussing my preference for #0001 Nismo he was aghast and swore I didn't want #0001 and stated he'd explain over dinner later.

Our crew and the Autech guys yielded a great conversation regarding 3, 5 & 7 numbers being preferred. I had a contact with Nissan run the inventory numbers on 3/5/7 and none were available (in Silver)...#1 (of the '09's) was bought by the owner of a large dealer in CA that must be aspiring to have his own museum later in life.

So...after many months of trying to get a unique number (#0370 wasn't silver...) I just found the best deal I could on a silver one and made my deal before the end of 2009 (better deals on clearing out '09 models and tax credit benefit).

mick 01-19-2010 10:18 AM

wow. thanks for the information!
i was thinking it would be cool to have a nismo with production number 666 (the devil's nismo) but according to this dealer, they only made 296 of them in 2009

2009 Nissan 370Z NISMO Special – #9 of 296 made for the 2009 model year – now $37,950 Victoria Nissan

LOL ...Someone at that dealer is a moron, they are advertising that car wrong. The 09 is the model year of the car, the 296 is the number of the car. The last number to register on this site for the 2009 models was 499. Hit the link below to the nismo registry on this site. Thats not a bad price on the car though, I'd low ball them if you looking to buy it.

I'm not so sure that is true as I almost purchased #409 '09 before the one I got. Tri-City Nissan in Tallmadge, OH had #409 and someone paid cash for it in the 1.5 hour drive down there.

Yep. it appears that the nismo is a limited production car but it is not that limited (not 296) :)

Mick...straight from a contact with Nissan in TN:

"As for production, we produced 509 model year 2009 and don’t have a final on 2010’s yet. We’ll produce those for another 6 months or so. And the 1500 unit volume you mention was never part of the plan for NISMO 370Z. There was lots of chatter about 1500 NISMO 350Z’s being produced but that wasn’t accurate either."

Originally, I had heard the target for Nissan was 1500 per '09 and 10 years however it seems I received bad info.

roplusbee 01-20-2010 04:22 PM

Wow. That is pretty good as far as collectors go. So that mean's the highest number I can possibly have is 509, awesome. Perhaps the 1500 units was for North America?

<off topic>

I am getting close. Just gotta get my paperwork from the bank (thru the mail, damn). I am just amazed that I will be able to close a deal on a new car from, ummm, my current location.

</off topic>

mick 01-20-2010 05:41 PM

yep, that is pretty awesome.

Thanks, zinistr for that information!

now im in the air force and ill be home in 2011 and i will have 20,000 in cash for a white nismo. im fine with paying sticker if they finance me and will install the oil cooler kit that day. is that asking to much?

vipor 01-25-2010 07:10 PM

As far as I know they still don't offer the Oil Cooler through Nissan. I just installed a Setrab 19 Row on my Nismo and it worked out great. Link is in my sig.

Yes I believe that Victoria Nissan has a 2009 Nismo with the build # 296 and if you look at the plaque it says Z34 09 296 meaning body type year of build and build # which is 296 :tiphat:

toxic 6 02-05-2010 01:41 PM

i got mine at $36500 OTD. thats way below sticker price.

Nismo4me 02-05-2010 03:49 PM

Hey TOXIC 6 ........Where did you get it in NC at that price?

luzahan 02-26-2010 08:12 PM

I picked my nismo up in November for $33,900, It had 300miles on it and had been sitting at the dealership since July. High miles for a new car but Im satisfied.

JimZ 03-21-2010 10:33 AM

If you dont mind driving a little to get the vehicle......check other dealers for great deals....Just bought an 09 NISMO in Alabama with 106mi for 35,950. In this economy and tax-time approaching....getting rid of 'last year' inventory is a great for us....good luck!

rockhounds 05-06-2010 06:00 PM

Same on my case... just bought an 09 for $30,400 in eBay from a Nissan Dealer outside FL. 500 miles on it and lots of fun.
