Seat Position and Highway Float (2014 Nismo)

Hi Guys,

Just pulled the Z out for the summer and noticed a few things coming from my Focus ST

2 Questions:

1) What seat and wheel position works best for you?

Coming from other cars I'm having trouble finding a good seat position where I feel comfortable in the Z since there is no steering wheel telescope adjustment. What position feels best for you from a seat/ wheel (up/down) adjustment. I'm about 6 feet tall for reference. (I know this will be a bit different for everyone but wondering if anyone else has a similar issue and/or found a solution regardless of size

2) Does the Nismo float at highway speeds?

It seems the 2014 Nismo has quite a bit of float or darting at highway speeds. I figured it would actually stick more the faster I go due to the splitter, but I tend to find myself all over the lane without constant adjustments. The back feels stable but I have this strange sensation the front is high. (spacers have all been removed)

For comparison my Focus ST seems to have no issue and is roughly the same weight. Not sure if it's just me getting back into RWD from FWD or what. Might just be getting old, but let me know if you guys have experienced any of these issues and if so have any solutions.

Pumped the car is out and love driving it. Just slight annoyances to fix to enjoy the experience even more :)

IF your car is darting, have the alignment checked. It shouldn't do that. Sounds like you have too much toe in both front and rear. You will get some tramline on rutted roads. That is just the nature of wide tires. Nismo's don't float at all. The faster you go the more planted they become due to the aerodynamics.

For my seating position. I'm a little guy at 6'2". I have the seat about 3/4 back from the front. When pushing the clutch pedal in. My knee is bent about 20 deg, not straight out. My seat back is about 20~25 deg from vert.

As for the Nismo darting. Mine darts around a good bit. It's my alignment settings. My settings are a mix of track and street specs. And as Spooler said. With wide front tires. It will tramline with ruts, grooved pavement, etc.

It might still have the shipping spacers in have you seen that in other threads?

I think OP had ^ cover back when he bought the car.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I think your right about the tires gripping and going with the road. The more I thought about it, I think most highways have a crown to them which is probably why the car is tracking the way it is.

Also thanks for the seating position recommendation. Helped a lot!

Couldn't have explained it better myself. My DD is also FWD and once I got my Z I instantly noticed this. Kind of annoying to have to constantly make small adjustments, but I have gotten used to it.
