Got a Test Drive

One of our local dealers just got in a 2015 Nismo Tech. I finally got a chance to take a test drive. It did have the 6 speed manual. I was a little disappointed that the red seat inserts were not leather but instead they were suede inserts. Not sure how this would hold up as a future daily driver. I had them look at my 2011 Infiniti G37 with the sport package, Nav, 19 inch wheels, premium package with only 14,000 miles. If I were to settle with their numbers I would have had to hand over my car plus $30K which included the taxes, registration and the high $700 dealer fee. Looks like they were only going to give me $20K for my car. The Nismo listed for $46,440 but they added some dealer extras to bring up the cost of the Nismo to $47,33. I know I can do better if I decide to buy the car. At this point in time all I wanted was the numbers.

Is your G37 a sedan or coupe?

Zipper 104 02-15-2015 08:17 PM

Wow...

That's crazy money for a new Nismo. They're only $49-ish K up here and our dollar is 20% in the tank to the USD.
That isn't to say ones brought in later won't be higher, but $47 K is close to $58 K CDN. You folks really ought to be looking in to see what it would cost to import a Canadian Z. And I recall you could claim back any of the sales taxes you pay on it.
And $20K sounds lame for a 2011 G. Any guess as to what they'd have it back on their lot for afterwards?

I have seen this particular dealer hold onto their new arrivals for 3 to 4 months before they even start lowering the pricing. How about $499 for nitrogen air for the tires, $599 for scotch guarding the interior and another $500 for paint protection. Just another way of jacking up the price of the car. Of course they will tell you they can't remove these "extras" because they already have been done.

Those prices are exceedingly ridiculous. $499 for $5.00 worth of nitrogen? $599 for Scotchguard that is a worthless spray on coating that only last for a few months.
This is why most Nissan dealers tick me off.

:shakes head: Dude, the dealer is on crack. Plain and simple. If they aren’t taking you out for a nice dinner and drinks and giving you flowers or candy, don’t let them screw you like that. First, NADA puts your Infiniti at 23,500 – 26,600 depending on condition. You get a $3800 bump for the mileage. Second, the average price Tech Nismos are selling for in Tampa is 44,200 according to TrueCar. Find another dealer. :ugh2:

I did get a call from their general manager yesterday afternoon. He wanted to know what they can do to earn my business. I told him it was simple. Lower your price on the car and give me a fair trade. He told me he could not do that so I told him thank you and I will but from some other dealer. There are a few more dealers in my area that I can check. It just so happens that this dealer has one in stock ready to sell but not at that price! I could but a brand new Stingray and get $6,000 off of list without all the extras the dealer is pushing.

$499 for nitrogen is ridiculous. My dealership took me for a ride on the price of my Nismo Tech, but they were kind enough to include nitrogen filled tires for free. I almost assumed that was a standard thing on mid-range and up Nissan models these days - every Altima on their lot has green valve stem caps. Whenever I have seen it listed on an invoice as an option, it's been ~$50.

Also the Suede holds up really well to DD... I would say better than the leather actually!

Our atmosphere is 78% Nitrogen. Even $5 for tires with it is overpriced, much less $500. One of many reasons I hate dealer$hits.

Try Venice Nissan. My local dealer got my car from them. I have a corporate discount and paid $45,000 even for a loaded tech with automatic transmission. With a six speed you should be closer to $43k.

There does not seem to be many of them out there sitting on the dealer lots. I definitely would like to stay with silver but my second choice would be the pearl white.

Indeed, the Nismo seats are leather on the sides where they need to hold you in place and comfy breathable fabric where you spend most of your time sitting. They're perfect.
