New '12 Roadster: What's Not to Like?

My first post since buying my magnetic black 2012 roadster on June 21. This car has exceeded all of my expectations. So glad I bought this and not the BRZ I test drove! I've read detractors who say the car is noisy. Or it has a rough ride. Or it sounds "mechanical". Hey, it's a sportscar. If you want a quiet car with a plush ride, buy another boring sedan. The car is not noisy. The top does not rattle. The lining probably makes the top quieter than other rag tops. It doesn't have the exhaust note of a Shelby Cobra but so what? It's a solid car and the ride is smooth and comfortable IMO. It's fast. It's fun. It handles GREAT! It turns heads and when I'm driving it I feel like a hot shot. What's not to like?

Glad you're enjoying it so far. It's disappointing there's so much negativity on here at times, when this is a website that should be celebrating the Z.

I've always liked mine, but keep liking it more and more with every mod I do. First with the exhaust and then dropping it on coilovers. It's like getting a new car every time I change something.

Happy to see another Roadster on here...enjoy!

How does one convince one's wife that a car like this needs any enhancement? That one's beyond me. I'd like to do the exhaust but that's just not gonna happen.

Find a killer deal in the classifieds here and tell her about how much money you're saving by getting it slightly used. lol It worked for me.

...and the Berk exhaust is pretty quiet...until you put your foot down, so it's kind of wife friendly.

You guys are a bad influence. Maybe I could tell her that termites have eaten our exhaust system and I need to order a new one.

I have a better idea... Tell her if you change the restrictive stock exhaust you will get better MPG and it is good for the ozone layer

Couldn't agree more. If you want smooth ride and quiet buy a Lexus or a Mercedes. Traditionally, sports cars were Spartan machines with little in the way of creature comforts but a whole lot of power and great handling. Compare the AC Cobra with a Z and the Z looks like a luxury car.

Easy. She's a woman, tell her a new exhaust looks sooo much cuter!!

Honestly- make up a list of pros and cons and show her how working it into the budget would not be a burden on you guys financially. If there are meets around you, take her to some with the promise of a nice date before or after, so that she can see what it's like. Show her it's not a spur of the moment impulse want and that you've actually thought it all out. ;)

My wife has no idea how much I have spent on mods.

I got rid of the wife then bought the Z so I wouldn't have this problem.
