Newbie in TN with question

I was with Nissan, Purchasing, for 27 years and am now retired but we still get the lease car perk each year. I am driving a Maxima now but will take delivery of a 2011 370Z Roadster this Feb. When a model is not selling well or we have made too many we get a great discount. Never had a Z and am really looking forward to plumping my butt down in this thing. I have two very fast motorcycles so am used to speed but I am wary of this thing and 332 HP.

Trunk room - My wife and I frequently go on road trips and will make due with the small trunk but do want to maximize things. What is the opening in the rear, lower part of the car? I think it's referred to as the "butthole" orifce. It looks like a trailer hitch receptacle but I doubt that. Anybody know?
Anybody have any experience with an external bag such as on the trunk?

Great forum here and look forward to communicating with you guys.

Any questions about Nissan or middle TN just let me know.

hello,

where in TN are you from? I am stationed in Ft Campbell but currently deployed. I am interested in getting a Z when I get back. I am thinking of getting a immaculate Z year 2010 or 2011, or get a new 2011 Z since the new 2012 Z should be out by the time I get back. Either option, should save me some money.

Can you get any good deals?

Welcome !

Welcome......

What are your thoughts about the sales of the 370Z ?......Is the production held down ? and if so....for what reasons? seems like your experience will be very rewarding......I had a new 1970 Z and at that time they were coming into Jacksonville, Fla.

The "orifice" is for a required light in other countrys (Japan?). I bought a car from Nashville Nissan abiout 2 years ago for my son. Trunk space is limited but usable. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks

Mark, I am actually in Smyrna which is south of Nashville. The website rules were very clear in that there should be no commercial activity on the site so the subject of how to purchase is prickly. So, I think a phone call when you get closer to a Purchase would be better. Send a note on this site or call and we will talk about it. Note that you being a member of our military and deployed makes you at the very top of the food chain to me and I will help any way I can. Dad was a Marine in WWII and brother was Army in Vietnam.
It sounds cheesy but be careful.

Ferrari, got your note and replied so let me know if you get it. I may not be that valuable on the Z and here is why. Nissan is publicly traded so any news that comes out of Nissan can effect the stock price so in reality they limit things to positive only. I did get a sales report for November and everything is going way up while most other OEMs are down. But, the Z was left off of the report which tells me things are probably not good sales wise. They don't tell us about production numbers but I am getting a hell of a deal on my monthly lease.
I've been to Japan 27 times (I think) and have seen most everything Nissan does including watching a hydrulic battering ram destroy a 350 from the side to check side impact details. It was silver and after the ram hit the Japanese techs and I all had tears in our eyes. No language probleme here.
I've seen our competitors cars torn completely apart for study and, with the exception of the GTR, I think the Z is a showcase of technology and quality in manufacturing and build. The car is a religion over there and if you are lucky enough to be an assembly tech or designer it is something you will tell your kids about. Hard to explain but the car should cost +60% of what it does. It's a true gem I think.

Thanks for the feedback................. Can't wait to get that car! First color choice was Black Cherry and two was Gun Metal.:driving:

There is a thread here somewhere about the monthly sales figures of the Z
I did a search for it, but came up with nothing....

Fascinating insights into "behind-the-scenes" views that we otherwise wouldn't see.

Look forward to hearing more... :tiphat:
