Losing Throttle

I am experiencing a loss of throttle. It dose not happen every day, but really erratic and no check engine light. Always right after it sits over night. It will come back, but slowly and shortly after it goes away. We have had it to the Dealer twice and now when we call them, we feel that we are wasting their time. I would hate to take the car back to them with the tail end all smashed from being hit! Anyone have any ideas?

First thing to do is see if there are any DTCs. You can buy a code reader as cheap as $15 or rent one from an auto parts store.

If there are any DTCs, post them here.

If no DTCs, I'd try cleaning the MAFs - it's an easy job and only costs a can of cleaner. If that doesn't work, I'd clean the TBs.

Welcome to the 370Z forums. Definitely see if you can read any codes first and check back here if there are any codes. It is very possible your MAF’s or throttle bodies are dirty and need to be cleaned. Also clogged up/dirty fuel injectors can cause loss of power as well.

You can always try a bottle of Chevron fuel injector cleaner or Chevron fuel system cleaner it always worked well for me. Also you can hand clean your fuel injectors.

Did you ever fix that issue
I have a similar issue, every time I start it from sitting overnight
I get a loss of throttle . It doesn’t last long and within less than a minute
It’s normal but I’m not sure what it is. There are no
Codes and techs can’t find an issue.
Clean out the maf and check everything
Strange

I know this is an older thread, and I hope you solved your issue by now, but did it seem like when a carburetor choke was stuck on? I'm thinking about how my inline 4 honda would act when it was first fired up and running with partial choke when I forgot to open it back up fully. It would bog out due to lack of air, then work perfect once I slapped the choke off all the way. I've had that sort of bogish performance after the first start of the day, then it would disappear after a few miles, or I would shut the engine off at a stop light, fire right back up and it would be fine from then on. It happens intermittently and there are no trouble lights or error codes. I have no idea what causes it, how to make it stop doing it, so I just live with it. lol
But, if anyone has an idea please let me know. I'm no master mechanic, but I can turn a wrench when the need arises. I have more time than cash these days so if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be so awesome. Cheers

Try cleaning the MAF and TB. Prior to doing this, I would have issues where the car would randomly lose throttle or the car would start in limp mode. I would shut off and re-start and it was fine, and doing this got really old. Post-cleaning, no issues.
