Was the 370Z the right choice?

For as long as I can remember I have always loved fast cars and I have waited a long time to get one. When I was in college I made some poor financial choices and have spent the last 10 years paying for them.

Over the last 3-4 years i have been preparing myself and my finiances to be able to afford a sports car, but which one? I have watch and read countless reviews on cars of all different genres from muscle to sport to tuner and I had finally narrowed it down to two; a C6 Corvette or the 370Z Nismo.

I chose the 370Z and went to my local dealership and told them that I want the 2013 370Z Nismo in Magma Red with the Bose audio package and the custom fit car cover for winter storage. The salesman looked at me kind of funny I think because I knew EXACTLY what I wanted and knew more about the car than he did. I do all the paperwork for the loan and get her ordered (they didnt have one on the lot) so she came in later that week.

I have now had my 370Z Nismo for about a month and the question remains, was the 370Z the right choice? and my answer to that is........

HELL YA IT WAS!

With that being said, my name is Ryan and I am from the Cleveland, OH area.
I am excited to be a Z owner and to talk with fellow enthusiasts.

Welcome and congrats! :tiphat: Nice first post and good choice on color.
This site will cause you to spend lots of money on modding so be warned. :eekdance:

Wolfenstein 06-06-2013 09:57 AM

Thanks sparky! I do love the color and I am sure I will end up spending a bunch of money on mods :rofl2:

I have already plasti-dipped all the badges and the door handles which really makes the car look that much more amazing. I think I am going to black out the taillights and have some tint put on which I believe will be the extent of my cosmetic mods (less is more for me).

I want to purchase the Stillen Gen3 intake and the FI exhaust already

ElVee 06-06-2013 09:58 AM

lol nice post and kicker at the end! Welcome!

Jasonle 06-06-2013 10:00 AM

Congrats! Glad you made the RIGHT choice!

Welcome to the club!

Yep. The 370Z is a great car. But so is the Corvette. I'm guessing that if you had gone the other way you'd be posting something very similar on TheC6Vette.com. :)

Wel-come to the club ... :hello:

Welcome Wolfenstein from a fellow Clevelander (East Side). You need to check out the The Cleveland Z Club at Redirecting to CZC.com home page.

You've made the right choice.

FI CBE = Winning!

This made a night and day difference for me in the level of day to day enjoyment I receive when driving my car.

That's a true statement right there.

That is possible :icon17: but there are a few reasons I didn't choose the Vette. The one most important thing is that I wanted something that you don't see all the time and around here Vettes are a dime a dozen. The other major factor was the fact that GM took the bailout money and wasted tax payers dollars (sorry for the short political rant):tiphat:

I have already looked into that, I was thinking about joining the get-together they have going on (in indiana i think) but have not decided yet.

mhill0425 06-07-2013 10:23 AM

When I decided to get the Z it was because I wanted something unique

My wife and I will be there, but are leaving Thursday AM so we can enjoy the area before the meet begins.

FYI, this was posted on the CZC forum:

All who wish to caravan to Midwest Z Heritage on Friday, June 14th:
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Meet at Lodi exit (#204) on Route 71S at the McDonalds at 7:30am, we will be LEAVING promptly at 8am.

Be sure to bring 2-way handheld radio to join in the conversations on the way. We normally run Channel 5. These radios are $25-30/pair at Walmart or the like for a basic set.

Leuz 06-09-2013 02:13 PM

Welcome, I like your intro. There is nothing that feels better than looking at your car, getting in it and feeling in love with her like the first day! :D
Well maybe s.x... :leghump:

Wolfenstein 07-15-2014 07:18 AM

Well, I have had my car for over a year and I still feel the same way about her as when I first picked her up. I am SO glad that I did not go with the vette! Every time I walk away from my car I have to turn around and get another look because she is that damn sexy plus no one really stares down a vette like they do a Z Nismo!

:worship:

Looking at the mods I had planned a year ago I have stuck with so far except for the front bumper because I didn't plan on some jacka$$ backing into it. In the end I am almost glad that it was hit because that Stillen bumper looks amazing :icon17:

I still need to get the fast intentions exhaust though! I'm slacking.....:shakes head:

Hi

Wolfenstein 07-16-2014 06:49 AM

hi

steelertown 07-16-2014 03:42 PM

I was leaning towards a c6 corvette until I saw the stingray. they have done a great job making the c6 look outdated and I just can't buy the c6 after seeing it. I haven't liked the revision to new model cars lately but the new corvettes are really a home run for GM.

I agree that the c7 stingray looks great (other than the tail lights..wtf?) but how many times will that sucker get recalled? :rofl2:

Davey 07-16-2014 03:49 PM

I'm not a huge fan of the C6, the 7 is improved and I'll probably buy one in 5 years when they get through all the recalls. :ugh2:

Love my Z. I have tried many other cars in the meantime but the Z just does it for me.

mab864 07-17-2014 07:32 AM

I really like the C7s too. Big improvement. I drove a C6 before I bought the Z and just couldn't get past that plastic looking interior. And the leather on the drivers seat was completely trashed and the car only had 30K on it. I liked it other than that. I'd like to drive a C7...

Tazicon 07-17-2014 08:29 AM

I am glad to see after a year you still feel the same way. It sucks to have buyers remorse. I only have once in my life when it came to cars. I research them much better ever since. You really should do the exhaust. I think my car only had around 700 miles when I did mine. It just adds so much to the enjoyment of the car......JUST DO IT!

I just pm'd a guy in the for sale section for test pipes. That will be step one...then step two is to get the CBE....I want either fast intentions or meistershaft (don't know if I feel like spending that much)

janglez 07-17-2014 12:21 PM

Hi Wolfenstein! I'm in Brook Park. I waited 18 years to get my Z (waited until my son graduated high school). It was between the Z and Vette for me too (due to wanting a 2-seater). The Z is a better choice due to what you get for the money. I've had Zeus since September. Every time I drive him feels like the first. LOVE this car! And I enjoy watching people give themselves whiplash to get a look as I drive by...

Hello Janglez! :hello: Were you the black cherry Z I waved to on 83 and center ridge yesterday?

janglez 07-17-2014 01:21 PM

No, wasn't me. I didn't have the Z out yesterday.

I am in the process of doing a custom twin turbo build. One of my buddies worked for Garrett for 20 years and can get me the hook-up on some turbos.
