Just got my baby

Just picked up a new 2013 Nismo 370z with Bose(no kick plates or rear view can). Got it yesterday from PA and drove home in snow :shakes head: . But the car handled much better then I thought it would. Just took it to the beach and back and there's a slight burning smell(no I'm not feathering the crap outta the clutch lol). I think the smell is normal for new car right?

But I am loving the way the car handles. Best handling car I've driven yet. Haven't taken it past 4.5rpm for first thousand miles or so to break her in just right lol.

I went from:
silver 05 maxima(transmission went twice)
Then got new 2010 g37s white (some lady pulled out to make a turn and I couldn't avoid her) (totaled oct 2012)
Now Nismo 370z

Been on the forum for a while learning alot.

Check out a Clearbra before your vulnerable front end gets all chipped up, then relax and enjoy your beautiful new car.

fuct 03-18-2013 04:45 PM

smell is normal, and congrats!

Z-Girl 12 03-18-2013 07:06 PM

Very nice! But what does feathering the clutch mean?

ak8905 03-18-2013 08:20 PM

Been trying to find a place to get a clear bra on Long Island.

(someone correct me if im wrong) feathering the clutch is when shifting you hold the clutch at the "threshold" where it engages for to long which will burn the clutch out

ak8905 03-18-2013 08:34 PM

My car didn't come with wheel locks so ive been looking all through the forums and noticed I have to get special wheel locks because some crack.

http://www.the370z.com/wheels-tires/...d-lug-nut.html

The TSB is for 2009 370Z's so I'm not sure if this is the same model number for the whee locks that would work on 2013 370Z NISMO 19" RAYS...

I posted on there but haven't gotten a response yet.

Thanks

left foot riding the clutch no matter what.

Congrats on your new Z! keep lots of towels and learn how to pat dry your car. That's how I dry my car. Lot's of 2.5 x 2.5 micro fiber towels laid on the car after a car wash and pat dry the heck out of it.

tower74 03-19-2013 10:46 PM

or floating the clutch at a stoplight on a hill. That'll burn it up quick

I believe feathering simply means the process in which you slightly let up on the clutch and engage the tranny, how you feather it can be different from one person to another. Riding the clutch too much is when you'll start burning it, and is a bad feathering technique lol. Anyways congrats on the Nismo!

ak8905 03-27-2013 04:09 PM

Thanks all.

Just did my first mod! Wheel locks lol. I put 2 on each wheel which will hopefully prevent my wheels from getting legs and walking off.
Also got the moweraxle tow hook license plate mount which I haven't put on yet bc I love not having a front license plate. Damn New York and there laws lol

Texas has a law about that too... But I refuse to ruin the clean look of my front end lol.

syd_atm 07-23-2013 10:06 PM

may I ask how much did you pay for your nismo? i just got an offer from a local dealership quoted $41.5 for a base nismo...is this a good offer?

Arrvaxx 07-24-2013 08:47 AM

Oh crap this is about someone getting a new car. I was hoping Kate or William were site members and were checking in.
