Officially a "the370z" member | 2014 Nismo

Hey forum,

I've been on the370z forum for my 350z HR nismo. Appreciated the community help with Stillen supercharger install and Topgun A-A kit, idle /tuning, and other various issues.

I was waiting for the new Z reveal to see if it would be worth it. I was not a fan, so I officially purchased a 2014 Nismo today via Carvana. Was actually a member's car here and because of Covid, he did me a solid by selling it to Carvana so I can have it shipped. ( thanks again dangerofs)

Will be my 3rd Z. (had a 03 350z Track edition while living in Germany). It is also Red like my 350z nismo. Going to be keeping both. I'll post some pics of the pair when I take delivery Tuesday. Already looking for 2015+ Nismo seats and Husam2012's GTR TT setup for the spring :-)

Very nice - Loving the red Z
Congratulations!:driving:

Malachy 10-18-2020 02:49 PM

Congrats Bro, Welcome to the Nismo family!

NissanTracker 10-18-2020 10:04 PM

Thanks everyone. Delivery date is this Tuesday. The Carvana experience has been a little stressful with handling documents. With Covid, call wait times can get annoying. In any case, looking forward to the delivery and examining the Z to make sure all is legit and hoping for no surprises.

UPDATE:

So Went that Tuesday to pick up the Z. Sigh... too good to be true:

*The fact that I had to go and pick it up is completely the opposite of their "to your door delivery"... and they charged me 500 dollars! WTF?

1) The Pioneer deck that dangerofs put it was ripped out at one of their depots. They coudn't even give me a reason why it was done. I'm assuming someone poached it and put the factory one back in

2) Backup camera was also poached... same excuse given.

3) They damaged the front bumper during transport. Bumper was hanging off the fenders. 1/2 to 1 inch gaps. Also Curbed the front passenger wheel.

4) Nismo floor mats are missing. Trunk mat is missing (although listed as coming with them). They will only replace with generic floor mats. Told me to pound sand for the trunk mat. Dangerofs said they were in there. So they were poached as well.

5) They replaced the rear tires with General Tire G-MAX RS's, never even heard of them (driver's rear was mounted in wrong rotation)

6) Front tire thread is down to nothing... I don't even think it will pass inspection.

7) A lot more scratches than what they reported in their "detailed 360 degree" walk through.. load of ****.

So far what this tells me is Carvana does not detail the exterior enough and the depot's are poaching parts out of cars. They did not expect this type of experience from a customer since they never had anyone actually "arrange the sale over Carvana".

NissanTracker 10-30-2020 10:16 AM

I told them to address the issues and they asked me to pick it up again yesterday (now snowing... wtf)

1) They resprayed the front bumper/lip. Looks like absolute garbage. Filled with fish eyes, orange peel, dirt in the clear coat. They wouldn't warranty the work... so who knows how long that paint will last knowing the quality of the job they did

2) They replaced the driver's side bumper bracket, but not the passenger side.

3) They still did not give me damn floor mats. It was pouring out.

4) They did not fix the curbed wheel.

Rusty 10-30-2020 11:20 AM

Not good at all. :shakes head: I would be talking to a lawyer.

Sorry to here that you are going through this and they are NOT holding their end of the bargen. I would walk away from it and get any money Back!! :twocents:

I would definitely walk away from this purchase. If you've already paid, I would go higher up and have the sale rescinded. I doubt they would go the lawyer route.

cv129 10-30-2020 12:48 PM

Wow this is a complete opposite of my experience with Carvana, interesting. Best of luck to you. It should be an easy return and money back. Just walk away. Something better out there is waiting for you.

Regular CARVANA practice should be taking pictures of every little, I mean tiny tiny tiny, imperfections. This is bizarre.

Carvana has a no questions ask return and/or replace policy, there should be no problem on this.

NecioVato 10-30-2020 03:41 PM

If you are going through this much trouble - just walk away from it. Worse case would be to take ownership of it and then find out something is missing/poached/damaged etc and then being 'stuck' with having to add more $$ on top of the purchase price/shipping cost.
If you do decide to go with this - are they refunding you for the shipping fee since what you were told/shown via pics is NOT what was delivered and all the unnecessary BS you are having to go through?

NissanTracker 10-30-2020 05:11 PM

***UPDATE***

Just found out that the driver's side rear tire was mounted in the opposite direction. Highways were wet and damn thing was pulling all over the place...

NissanTracker 10-30-2020 05:12 PM

Well, here is my dilemma. I don't think i'll be able to find a low mileage 14' Nismo in red. I did call them out on these things. Especially the fact that I had to go an hour out (twice) and pick it up.

They keep to their "no haggle" crap. i asked for a delivery refund. The best they can do is take care of the concerns I gave them and we will have to see from here. But... only 7 days?

Other than that, the engine is sound. Just another annoying car purchase.

Could have happened in transport, not to stick up for them. Guy at the depot told me that a lot of times, these cars get dropped off in the middle of the night/early hours to the local depots.

cv129 10-30-2020 05:20 PM

Objectively:

If this car was in perfect condition, what’s the max price you would pay?

At current price, is there enough room for you to fix the stuff that bother you, before total $ becomes ridiculous?

Or buy 09-13, then paint the lower trims that dark grey color, might be a better option (I assume your heart is set on the 2014 look).

NecioVato 10-30-2020 10:28 PM

Considering the price is close to $30 - there is this one (granted I would look to see about removing the stupid stripe down the middle) but it is probably the nicest red color made for the Z (my opinion since I love the magma red color):

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0885/overview/

Don’t get me wrong - the car from Carvana is beautiful and it is the last year of the ‘numbered Nismos’ but still - like someone asked earlier - if you are sold on this car bc of the low mileage and the fact it’s the last year of the numbered Nismos - then have a price in mind of what you would be willing to spend to get it in YOUR satisfaction. Good luck with whatever you decide.

NissanTracker 06-22-2021 11:02 PM

So update after storing in the winter.

I did a paint correction, ceramic coating.. wet sanded and polished the front bumper. Put about 1K miles and loving it. Matches well with my red 07 350z Nismo. Carvana did keep to their word on their warranty. Alignment, fixing e-brake, etc...

with the Carvana warranty, made the experience a lot better.

(Although i went to the dealership for the alignment... i took a before and after picture of the miles, they had my z for 2 days and i saw 40 miles put on it. I flipped out at the service guy for this)

SteveVQ 06-23-2021 01:43 PM

God, that's some dedication. I would of walked away as soon as I saw poached parts, damaged body panels, curbed rims and tires put on the wrong way ect.

Just proves some people are willing to walk through hell or high water to get what they want.

Glad it all worked out OP.

Still, this experience scared me away from ever doing online car buying with delivery services.
