Texas Nismo 370z
Howdy guys!
So I'm about to graduate from Texas A&M, Austin native, but will be moving to Dallas to start my career in the upcoming months! Thankfully, I've been fortunate enough to get a white 370! Its the non-tech package since I would have to wait a few months and did not want to do that haha. I've had the Z for a week and it is so much fun! My previous car, and still have it, was a Mazdaspeed 3. Fun car, but obviously still a college kid's car haha Now I have a big boy vehicle (although I need to learn to drive it). I don't plan on doing any mods currently but I would want to know if there are any good manufacturers to get stiff motor mounts? I love the feel/vibration of the mounts on cars and how it makes you feel more connected to the car. I'm almost through the break in period, at about 800 miles and autocross is coming up next Sunday, so I'm definitely looking forward to learning to drive a rwd over there! Feedback, comments, concerns haha Thanks! -Manny |
Congrats and welcome, Manny! :tiphat:
Pearl White is a great looking color on the Z. Regarding motor mounts, a few members are running these and they seem to be good quality and more rigid - https://www.z1motorsports.com/g37_37...oducts_id=5587 |
Good pick. I am only at 650 miles in three weeks of owning. I can't wait to hit the autocross events.

Welcome N15mo to the forum, Keep enjoyin that beautiful Pearl Z
The AutoX always seems like a fun thing to be able to do, Z's have some good success. Lets see some pictures when you have the chance! Cheers! |

Thanks! Hopefully, I will be able to read up on this platform this upcoming weekend to see exactly what kind of numbers I want to get out of this car haha Sent while tappin' and smackin' |
Well A usual Nismo turns out about 350 horsepower and 280 torque. So on a Dyno you're probably looking a bit less than that. But it is certainly a lot of power in that car. Cant wait to see what you got in store for the car?
What do you have planned to mod and upgrade? And in the words of Jim Carrey " B-E-A-UTifulll"... |
Welcome to the 370Z forum

Congrats and welcome to the club.

As far as mods, I'm still reading up on the platform. Seeing dos and donts, getting ideas to get power without destroying the engine ha. But ideally I'd like to get to the 450whp/400tq range more or less. But as far as appearance, I have no plans on it other than aftermarket shift knob and footwell lighting. Other than that, for sure I want to get motor mounts just so I can feel/hear the engine when I punch it haha. Also so I don't have any flexing on the track. Sent while tappin' and smackin' |
450 whp / 400 trq will require boost. Set aside $15k for that.

Yeah, getting to 450whp and 400trq is going to take a nice bit of boost. Whole TT setup is going to be more or less what you are looking at.
And depending on what brand and type of turbo setup you are looking at safe to set aside between $10k-$20k. Boost is not the cheapest thing in the world. |

What about supercharged? Are there ITB kits available for this platform? Again I'm still just putting my foot in the door. Don't know where I want to end up but definitely going to learn how to drive it at its current power before I add more ha Sent while tappin' and smackin' |

No ITB yet, and might never see them as this is a small platform to develop for & most companies go for the big tickets items and stop. SC is still going to run you $10k to jump in, a bad day with the kit might set you back $5k but still with boost you will always want to have plenty of reserve. I would jump down the FI section and read through all the stickies and long term reports people have. My final piece of advice, if you want boost, plan now for it. Look at what items you may want to upgrade & if it will help or hurt if you have a TT/T/SC kit in the future. |
Congrats on the new car. Very nice!
Like others have said, your stated whp goal isn't achievable unless you go FI. Plan to drop anywhere from $10k - $15k to do it the right way with the supporting mods. You also need the "my motor just blew up" fund available just in case. If that is too steep for you, a bolt-on and tuned N\A car will get you anywhere from 320-335whp and will cost much less. It'll be very fun to drive and have a nice flat powerband. Good luck and be safe! |

And yeah learning to drive the car at the power it already has is a smart first move. In the end you may not want to put a TT or SC, it all depends. I honestly think a TT kit would be more beneficial to a Z just to get a faster start off the line in AutoX or track Quote:

Oh my haha... Well then. I will definitely need to plan this out very well then :(
But I have time, and there's no rush right now. Going to enjoy it in the meanwhile haha And I will DEFINITELY look at the "my engine just blew" section ha don't want that to happen Sent while tappin' and smackin' |

Yes the Nismo has a slightly stiffer/rigid suspension setup but many find it to be a minor improvement over the standard coupe suspension. On track ready in other areas, you will need to look at better fluid/pads for a track. |
Yeah that fund would definetly be something to just have on the side haha. There is nothing but time, you wait to upgrade until you want or have the money haha
Its what I am having to do with mine, save up to acctually invest into the car more. I already went through my first set of mods though. |

An aftermarket oil cooler is a must, especially with you being in Texas. The car isn't 100% track ready from the factory, I'm not sure of many cars that are. A few minor upgrades will make it that much more enjoyable though. |

And what are you pushing at the wheel? Sent while tappin' and smackin' |
Just go ahead and order the oil cooler and a set of sway bars.

My model is the touring sport model originally but since I started with the OEM nismo parts, I call it more of a Touring Nismo, especially since my next investment is the OEM nismo exhaust.
Right now I have installed the OEM Nismo Air Intakes, Black XXR Racing wheels(rims) deep dish wheels on the back, sitting on nexen tires and an Eibach suspension system. I blacked out the decals too, Both Nissan Emblems and the 370z on the back left. The bose sound system came with the touring sport package that I got |

if i do anything with my exhaust it might just be a resonator delete, just to make it a big deeper/louder haha :excited: |

And the little details like the exhaust tips that go into the nismo are insane too Also Chuck, are these the anti-sway bars from stillen you were talking about? http://www.stillen.com/product/sway-...11-g-6765.html |
Yep, that's them.
|
The whitelines are pretty close to the same price with shipping and everything included.
How much were the Hotchkins? and how would Eibach sway bars measure up? Only reason i ask eibach is because thats part of my suspension system already |
They are all going to cost about the same and perform about the same.
|
Cool, That works out. Thanks Chuck
I still gotta think and decide haha |
