I'm a Noob. Read this!

Howdy!
My names is Brandon and I'm pretty sure I am going to get a 370Z. I just am on the fence between the rx-8 and the Z. A while back I was thinking about the GTI, but its fairly costly for all the options I want AND the barely better fuel mileage hardly justifies how sluggish that car was when I test drove. So I guess I am writing this to ask the stuff the dealer won't tell me. What is the real mileage I should be expecting, I have read about 20 mpg which is better than my current vehicle. I was also wondering how these guys hold up over time, and how much upkeep and repairs will cost me. The GTI was insane to service once the warranty was up so thats another reason I think I am over that. Oh and btw this will be my first sports car! I am so amped to get out of my smaller truck. But I plan on keeping my next car for a long time so I'm hoping to hear some good news!
Cheers!

Hi

You will go through tires llike water....Thats if you are driving your z correctl! :driving: i have the sport model and I just replace my rear tires and you are talking $900. Also you have to think about what customizing you want. I am about $10k in and that is just cosmetics paint, srpings, camberkit, spacers, alpine everything, two tone leather seats, etc! Now I am working on intake and exhaust.

Welcome Z_bro

Hi Brandon once you drive the Z you will forget or won't mind about fuel cost and repairs its always a thrill to drive and the desire to modify it is so irresistible like an addiction.
I drive my Z early morning on weekends for no reason at all just wanted to experience the rush of adrenaline. Its like a bullet train!

So what are you waiting for buy the Z and lets hit it on in the forums!

With the maintenance costs of a VW I would go with the nissan.

Pauly 05-08-2012 07:53 AM

i get like 23 mpg with spirited driving. about 28 just cruising around. doubt you will regret getting a 370

Pauly 05-08-2012 07:55 AM

oh and the Z is much faster than the rx-8, but im sure you knew that already

twinturbonet 05-08-2012 07:57 AM

The only respectable "RX" ends with a 7. Get on that Z!

Why are you wanting a sports car and so concerned about MPG?

uMadeBro 05-08-2012 11:43 AM

Well im not going to cry over a few mpg less but i am just trying to figure out what the car is going to cost on a yearly basis including gas, upkeep, repairs etc. I pretty much am sold on this car but I want to know if there are any serious issues with this car when it gets over 50, 60, or 70 k miles.
thanks for all the feedback tho!

^^^x2 I get on avg about 23 which isn't bad for what my car does ^_^

A friend of mine has a wrx n he get less gas mileage and is slower

I have a Z and an R32. The VW is my DD though and the MPG is pretty close to my base Z, tbh.

Must be an older WRX and/or he doesn't know how to drive.

Get the Z over the RX for performance and mileage, over the GTI for maintenance and unique factor.

Don't waste your time on an rx-8. The rotaries die at 100k.

I also considered the gti ,my second choice in fact. Its a blast for a DD, but if you want a sports car go 370z.
