Hello, previous 350Z owner now with a 370Z

Hello folks. I am a Silver State Classic Challenge life member (translation Open Road Racing) who has raced many different cars over the 20+ year SSCC history. Mustang, Camaro, Pantera (as a Nav), the 2007 350Z Roadster (with the top down) and now due to the 350Z getting rear-ended a 2011 370Z Coupe (my first automatic transmission car ever).

Mods include Stillen cat-back exhaust, Stillen Generation 3 intake, and the big brake/big wheel Sport package from Nissan - other than that this Z is a base model (the 350 was a touring model).

Current interests - get the car ready for May SSCC race!

Cheers (From California, but since 1/1/2011 I've been to Nairobi, Dubai, Denver, currently in Richmond VA and off to London Friday).

Welcome and congrats on the new Z! And don't even worry about getting the 7AT. You'll find it's got plenty of punch when you want it. There's still some people who 'stick' by their good ol' manuals. It's just friendly elbow jabbin. :stirthepot:

Well, I chose the auto tranny because I like the paddle shifter idea, and after 35+ years of manual tranny's my left leg really hates SoCal traffic jams.

spdonegan 02-16-2011 08:05 PM

Another note on the auto tranny - the correct place for your hands to be when doing triple digit speeds really is the steering wheel :-) The paddle shifters are great, the shifts are instantaneous, and as I said my left leg really hates stop and go traffic these days :-)

And yes, even with the tech in the 2011 someone really good with a manual could beat the auto around a racecourse. But then I'm out there for fun :-)

Thanks for the various welcome's. My Stillen parts go on 3/1 as well as Stillen putting my Brey Krause fire extinguisher mount in. Camera mount I'll have to find suitable for that lovely brace behind the seats :-) My Naviguesser is signed up so May SSCC race here I come :-)

:iagree: If I had to deal with that 2x a day I'd gouge my eyes out with a spoon... :icon14:

Well, I almost never am home (job involves 85-90% travel, out of state and out of country tomorrow I leave VA for London), so 'future meets' is of low probability. I do the NORC/SSCC races in mid May and Mid September in NV, and occaisionally do the 'Donut Derelicts' thing in Huntington Beach. Look for a red 370Z and after I manage to get the plates transfered from the deceased Z to the new one 'SSCC86' is the license - SSCC Car #86 But anyone is welcome to email me and perhaps we can meet some day :-)

BTW - 2007 350Z roadster was nasty fast with COBB/Stillen G3 and Stillen duals and Berk cats, can't wait to find out what 200cc's adds to that mix :-)

spdonegan 02-17-2011 05:16 AM

BTW - I see an UpRev tune person here - I had COBB on my 350Z, am looking at the UpRev for the 370Z - your thoughts?
