San Diego Roll Call!
Hey I'm from San Diego Chula Vista, just want to see what other So Cal members are on here.

I live in San Bernardino right now, but I've lived in SD my whole life - right on north side of the 8 by SDSU. I'm just up in San Bernadizzle for school. I come down during summers though. SoCal what!

Hey guys, I am not from San Deigo, but I recently found out I will be moving there for a job! Well, actually I was told San Diego and found out that it is El Centro, CA! I grew up in NY and my fiance and I have never lived anywhere else. However, this is a great job and we are going to make the move. I did some research and El Centro doesn't seem like a great place to live and San Diego seems like way too far of a commute (90-120 miles)! So my reason for posting this is, I really know nothing about the area and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me to live and I could commute?

Look into Julian. It's a quaint mountain town sort of in the middle of El Centro and SD. I have really fond memories of it as my parents used to own a cabin there. There's some beautiful land there and it's not nearly as desolate as El Centro is. Anyway good luck and feel free to hit me with any other questions you have! |
Thanks! I will definitely look into Julian that helps me out a lot! Do you know approximately how far it is from El Centro? Would the commute be possible/reasonable?

just Mapquested it... and yeah, probably not a great option actually. I thought since El Centro was on the order of 1:30 hours east of SD, and since Julian is like 0:45 east of SD I figured it would be in the middle. But there are some stretches of mountain highways that go north off the 8 to Julian and somehow they add an additionally 45 min. On the bright side, you would have some great mountain roads to tear up if you get a Z! But yeah seriously, probably not your best option. I tried.
that's dire straights man, Alpine is the closest place I know to El Centro that's not a ghost town/desert and it's still really far from el centro too (like an hour at least) |
El centro is in the middle of no where. To live in any decent town/city it would be a good commute. Traffic shouldnt be to bad heading out that way. You should fly out here and stay in el cajon/ santee area and take a day trip to drive out there and check the commute. It is a long one. But might be a fun drive with a new 370z

I'll prob end up settling on Yuma, AZ...60 miles commute, 45 min...seems like the lesser of all the evils...thanks for the replies guys
