Battery Removal (for winter storage)

Hi,

Is It safe to disconnect the battery for 5 months without the computer/electronics messing up? I have a 2009 370Z. I am aware of the power window reset after removing the battery for a period of time.

Thanks much for any information,

Kevin

Disconnect and store it somewhere that's not the garage floor because it'll discharge there. *edit* Apparently it's no longer true*

Leaving it sitting that long though there's other things to think about. Just google long term vehicle storage.

You will also lose radio presets and engine tuning data. You'll have to manually reenter presets. Tuning data will be automatically relearned after a good, long drive under varying conditions.

If you can, use a battery tender to keep the electrical hot while not being driven.

Not true with a modern battery. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=storing+battery+on+floor

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated! If all that needs to be reset is the clock and radio, no biggie. Thanks again!!

Sooo Much Easier This Way - Connect Terminal Leads To Battery - Run Extension Through Grill - Done. :tiphat:

20 years using a battery Tender storing a variety of cars, zero issues. Hook it up, walk away.:tiphat:

I agree. I've used a few on several different motorcycles, cars, and even an RV, all have been trouble free. Most of my summer vehicles have had the battery tender cable permanently hooked up for easy plug and play operation. If you have access to an outlet, this is the way to go.
