Soon-to-be Nismo owner! Question is - Red or Black???

Hi all! :hello:

I've been reading through this forum for a while now while patiently saving up for a 2014 Nismo 370Z. I'm planning on dropping damn near 20g's on it to help tame those monthly payments, and I'm just about ready to make my purchase - probably this month!

I fell in love with the solid red paint job (especially since it works well with the Nismo gunmetal trimming and rim color, and red pinstriping), but finding a solid red one has proven to be rather difficult. Not impossible, but difficult.

I've had a few people suggest and even express their preference for the car in magnetic black. Black is my backup plan, and the more I think about it the more it seems to appeal to me. I live in FL though, so black is going to be hot hot HOT!

So I ask you, people of the 370z, which way would you go? I'm not considering gunmetal or white (though the white is VERY pretty)
One more question - does the magnetic black have any pearl flakes in it? I didn't look closely the last time I was at the dealership.

It feels good to be so close to joining the ranks!

I really wanted the red, my 350 was Nogaro red, probably the rarest color outside of brickyard.

But I got the black ... cus mobsters drive only black cars. :rofl2:

It does, gold, red, blue green very fine flakes, all very subtle though.

Having owned a black car in the TX summers I will say this: It doesn't matter what color you own, it's gonna get hot no matter what!!! I noticed my black car with a black leather interior felt just as hot as my mom's beige camry with a beige leather interior. There MIGHT have been a few degrees difference, but hot is hot. I would advise to get it tinted ASAP, it definitely cuts down on the interior heat. And a windshield shade when parked.

So as far as what color, I think they're both great choices for the Z. It really should be all about preference. The only warning I have about black is that it starts looking dirty very easily. Any small amount of dirt or dust just seems to stand out. In regards to red, it stands out from the crowd more. May be a plus or minus depending how you look at it.

I vote red. I love the new paint scheme of the 2014 Nismos, makes the kit stand out more.

Im a Red fan because the blue wasn't amazing in the 370z. Now, if Daytona blue was an option, I woulda rolled it right away! haha

Agreed! My preference was towards the red; the Gray Nismo accents go perfectly with it and the rim color. But... don't want to attract TOO much attention now.

When it came down to deciding, a friend of mine put it in perspective for me:
"If you want your car to be the center of attention, then definitely red. If you want your car to win an Oscar for best supporting wingman, then go for black."

True story.

True that, but does that mean you're satisfied with 2nd place only? :stirthepot: just kidding

Red is a nice color. Great choice.
Many car covers can cause light scratches on your car. Just watch it.

370zseth 04-14-2014 06:45 AM

:stirthepot:
Red color meaning = the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense.

Black color meaning = this color gives protection from external emotional stress. It creates a barrier between itself and the outside world, providing comfort while protecting its emotions and feelings, and hiding its vulnerabilities, insecurities and lack of self confidence.

Just saying, lol
