New 370z owner.

Hey guys, just traded in my '10 Honda Civic for this gorgeous beast. 09 Chicane yellow 370z base line. It came to me with 11k miles a few days ago and nearing 12k. I regretfully have to admit that it is an automatic. I just can't grasp the concept of shifting gears and clutching. :(

Here's my Z, I named her Stella. :)

Wel-come aboard ... :tiphat:

Grindkiezer 06-13-2013 06:23 PM

Looks good, congrats

Halion 06-13-2013 06:34 PM

Thanks guys! Little did I know the Chicane yellow was discontinued after 2009. It seems to me I've got a pretty special car. :o

Grindkiezer 06-13-2013 06:47 PM

Well it's nice to see a new Z on the road that isn't white or black

Halion 06-13-2013 07:35 PM

Yeah definitely. I see white all the time where I live. I did fall in love with a white 350z MT at 15. So I decided that one day I would have something from the Z line and lo and behold.

Z-Girl 12 06-13-2013 09:29 PM

Very cute...congrats and welcome.

Is it really? It was always stressed to me that stick is faster than auto due to weight and the way of the engine. It has paddle shifters and I'm still learning how to use them correctly. :o

Gorgeous color! Welcome aboard!

It is a little faster. Some of it is the auto, and some of it is the fact it's geared a little lower since you've got 7 gears.

Take it easy at first. Youve gone from a FWD economy car to a rwd sports car. Things are going to happen differently, and much faster. Find an empty (no light poles or parking blocks either) parking lot the next time it's a little damp and find out what you can and can't recover from.

Thanks for the advice! It's been raining a lot where I'm at and there is an empty lot next to my house, I'll definitely test it out there!

Chuck33079 06-14-2013 11:06 AM

Yeah, the stuff you can get away with in a fwd economy car will throw you off the road backwards in a rwd sports car. Test it out with vdc on and off just to get a feel for it. Please note I said test, not drift. I wouldn't suggest driving around with vdc off yet, just get an idea of the different physics of rwd. An autox wouldn't be a bad idea just to find your limits and the cars limits.

Halion 06-14-2013 11:15 AM

I haven't messed with the vdc button because I don't know what it does. I don't plan to drift in this car, just not for me.

Chuck33079 06-14-2013 11:19 AM

I wasn't seriously talking about drifting, I just meant don't get too carried away. Vdc off will give you a better feel for what happens when you screw up, provided you test it in a deserted obstacle free controlled environment.

Congrats & welcome!

The auto is fine! 6MT is fun, but at times I wish I did have the auto and paddles.

Halion 06-14-2013 11:25 AM

Gotcha! I'll test it out soon enough!

UruZai 06-15-2013 01:33 AM

Welcome and Congrats!
That's an awesome (and rare) color you got there

Mr&Mrs 06-15-2013 02:47 AM

Congrats and Welcome! Dont see very many yellows in this area. Actually I can only remember seeing one. If I catch you around town I will be sure to wave. Also check out the Tampa thread for local meets/greets.

Didn't know there was a Tampa thread! That's awesome. I'll be sure to look for it now! Thanks!
