New 2013 370Z

Greetings,

As a new member of the forum I thought I would share a picture of my former mint 2003 350Z. I live in SoCal and the ground shakes down here. We had some earthquakes last Sunday. In any event, last Sunday I went for a ride on my Ninja and when I returned I was greeted with the attached unbelievable sight! The 350 had been parked in the same location for ~ 10 years without incident. On this Sunday the trans was in 2nd gear and the parking break was engaged. For some undetermined reason the 350 rolled backwards in gear, jumped off the driveway and perfectly impaled itself on a granite bolder. (Go figure!)The upside of all of this is I now have my 370Z dream car. (with a little help from 21st Century)

Ken

Wow that's absolutely insane and comical how that landed there so perfectly. It looks fake to be honest lol. But congrats on the 13', pics?

Welcome. Was the 350 a total loss?

Welcome!

350Z (Total loss... without a scratch on the body!)

Yep… My (’03) 350Z was declared a total loss by 21st Century. The Nissan Dealership where I purchase the 350 had $10k in repairs before replacing the floor boards that had been cratered by the impact. Frankly, no one thought that the chassis could be fully restored to factory spec. They would have to put the car on a jig and weld in an entire new floor section. (Good luck). 21st gave me fair market value for the 350, so after the shock… everything worked out OK. The 370 is amazing!

enjoy your new ride.

1200 mile - motor break-in period

Hey… Is there any real truth to the 1200 mile initial break-in period for the motor? I am letting the Stangs and Beemers get away with way too much following the owners manual warning (limiting the revs to 4k etc… etc...)

DEpointfive0 09-12-2012 04:44 AM

Since no one was injured in your 350Z accident, let me say, LMAO!!! That is soooo awesome!!! Welcome to the forum, and make sure to go to the SoCal page and come to one of the meets!!!

I'd go more than 1200 miles, and oil change at <500, and another at like 1500, using cheap oil for that one, then put whatever oil you want... And please god don't ask which oil we recommend, we all support everything

Synthetic vs. Organic Oil

I have always used synthetic Mobile 1 and equivalent. I assume everyone agrees it’s better than organic…

Again, I'll say Nissan Ester oil, next guy will say Redline is ester oil too, next guy will swear up and down by Motul because Nissan racing uses it...

If you're buying the car, baby it for a while, let it really break in, do the oil changes then beat on it... If you're leasing it... Beat it... Lol

Welcome and Congrats! That pic of your 350z could go in a bad parking motivational picture haha
