Looking for other 2013 owners with Navigation (regarding missing Music Box option)

Surprised to see that my new 2013 does not have the Music Box option that was present on my 2009 model. I'm fairly certain this is not a malfunction on my car simply because the manual makes ZERO mention of the feature. The 2012 and earlier models that had navigation had the ability to burn/record music CDs onto a 9gb hard drive. It seems this feature was secretly removed from the 2013 model.

Can anyone else confirm?

I can't confirm but it seems odd. It's not the best feature though because of the way nissan setup the burner

The other thing I noticed is that the car is missing the plastic tray that used to sit inside the center armrest console. I hated the thing anyways... but wondering if the dealer forgot to include this with my car. Will need to follow up on that one...

EDIT - just confirmed that there is also no mention of the plastic center console box in the 2013 user manual. It seems this was also omitted... most likely because you are now required to use the USB plug in order to play music from a hard drive. (the plastic tray would get in the way of using the plug)

My 12 did not have anything in the center console either. Good thing I leave an iPod in there full time now.

I will check when I get my 13'

Confirmed on my 2013 Touring w/nav. Funny thing is, I was looking forward to trying this out, even with its limitations. I've had my Z a month now though, and hadn't even thought to check it out.

...Mainly because I purchased a PNY 32GB thumb drive (it's tiny, less than an inch long) and loaded a good chunk of my music on it. It really is a better option than the music box hard drive anyway.

Interesting omission on the '13s though - although it's not something many folks will miss.

Yea. Not many will miss having to re-rip all their CDs. Now if it would have let you copy the files from a USB source to the HD, that would have been great and it would have freed up the USB port for charging.

Perhaps a USB Female splitter cable?

I ended up grabbing an old 32gb iPhone 3gs and loading it up with my entire iTunes library. In the long run there is no doubt that this is the better way to go. I was just surprised to see the Music Box was missing.

I bought a iPod classic 80GB From eBay which works very well.

The only time I use music box is if I buy a retail CD before I get it home and rip it and sync the iPod.

I can honestly say I never once used the music box. From what I recall, it only records songs you have from your CDs and not what's on your iPod or USB drive.

My iPod Touch is the precise tool for the job in the car, especially since the interface on the car's display is so damn clean and wonderful to use.
