Get a catback that offers the type and volume of sound you want, and get some z1 smooth post maf tubes and k&n drop in filters. This will give you another 15-20who over stock for about $1500. Anything beyond this offers diminishing returns. If you want more that 295-315 whp, you need fi, or to sell your z and buy a Corvette.

Fast Intentions CBE or Stillen G3 CAI is a good place to start.

It would take a forced induction setup to hit those numbers

can you elaborate on that

Twin Turbos.

ChipsWithDips 02-28-2012 05:09 PM

Forced induction means a turbo or supercharger kit. Stillen's supercharger kit or GTM's twin turbo or supercharger kit are all fairly popular choices.

And you're gonna want a new clutch and oil cooler to support those. Also upgraded fuel system(fuel pump/injectors), but i think that comes with the kits(don't remember 100%) and it would need to be dyno tuned with a reflash.

Precisely ^ also.. Sticky tires and at least brake lines and fluid

STS single turbo will get you there 450-502whp or you can go with the greddy twins which will get you up to 512whp ( these numbers are all on pump gas). It's all about what you like whether it's a turbo or a Super Charger. Look around on the forum and ask away. There is a lot of people on here that will be willing to help out.

In regards to horsepower, it seems like theres some sort of "true" horsepower and on-paper horsepower. On paper, my 370z (like many others) are based around 332hp @ 6200 (give or take). However, looking at stillen's site, it seems like the 370z only outputs 276hp @7200 (max rev?). Could someone explain this?

Is it engine vs. rear wheel horsepower ??

The hp is never at the wheels. It's always at the flywheel. So you are going to lose about 20% hp .. I always take about 20% off from what the factory says it is.

He is correct it will take some form of forced induction to hit the number. Also in that area over a period of time your going to have to think about longevity of your engine. If you make 500whp and beat on it all the time chances are pretty good you will be looking at building a motor. Your best bet is to start small and work your way up unless your ready to drop over 10 grand in order to hit your goal.

If your just looking for a little more go I would start with a set of Intakes and a FULL exhaust. A custom tune will really wake it up also. I am sure the factory sets these cars up to run a little on the fat side for AFR's (Air fuel ratio's).

If you need some assistance on your overall goals shoot me a PM and I will be happy to help you out. We have done a number of 370z's here at AAM Competition. We are also working on a few BIG items. (More to come in the future )

Lets see, you want 4-500hp & not put stress on the engine. Why not do nothing & just say you've got 500h.p.:icon17:
