That was easy!

I have been so close to buying a 370Z, I always had a cash deposit with me when I would go to a dealer. Got up early Saturday to do a cycling event in High Point, NC. and had a little time to spare so I was internet shopping. Now It's early and I'm just getting my head together but when I saw this offer at Nissan of Hickory, NC I would have clicked the buy-it-now button if it had one. It had a make an offer button so I did and my offer was for another $200 less. When I got a confirming email that I had made an offer, I sent another email just in case I made a mistake on the first offer. Now, like I said I would buy the car at their asking price but I thought lets go the offer way first. Now I would have my cell phone with me in High Point but not during the ride and told them so in the email. So off I go (with my wife and son too) to do a 58 mile cycling event trying to keep my thoughts on the event. I thought this would be a (3)-ish hour ride starting @ 10:00 I told the dealer I would check my messages around 1:00. When I got back (my time 3:11) I had a message. It was the dealer, but it didn't sound good. They did not except my offer and said we need to talk. OK I was about to push re-dial and the phone rang. It was the dealer and we had a problem. The internet price was listed an error (had they had fixed it already) and it was a no deal exceptance of my offer. But they would stand behind the price posted if I bought the car Saturday. So here I am, talking to a dealer for the first time, in a parking lot in High Point and I'm asking him if he has a pen and paper ready for a credit card number (for a deposit) to hold the car for me. I bought a car and had not even confirmed if it was as listed per specs. I had seen the car in inventory at the NissanUSA web site so I was kind of sure. I had to wait on the rest of my family to finish the event (not a problem) but that would leave me about (3) hours then to get home, gas up my truck and get to Hickory. That was going to be close to closing time for the dealer. I could not beleve all the traffic for a Satuday and thought this is not looking good. It was getting darker too so I was ready to call and tell them I was late and then the sun came out. I get to Hickory, find the dealer, pull in and no red Z to be seen anywhere. A little panic set in, went inside and they said it was being washed. Waited a few minutes and then they pulled the beauty of a red Z out in front of the building. People still looking at cars near closing time were on the way to look at the car. I made (1) walk around the car and said "sold". Now the really bad thing is I have to wait until next Saturday for a ride back to Hickory to pick up my car and bring it home in Thomasville. This experance has changed the way I'm buying new cars (first new car bought on the net) and my advise is watch and document internet offers.
