New Owner

Hi

I just bought my first Nissan and its a 370.. I feel like a kid at Christmas time!! My wife cant understand it nor can she understand why I need a radar detector..But I am excited.. Previously I owned a honda accord coup.. 4 cyl.
I think this has a wee bit more power!
Got a really great deal on a leftover 2009.. that right.. 2009.. must be the last one in America!

Just thought I would join and see if I can make some new internet friends here.

ZCarMan 10-18-2010 06:23 PM

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your new 370Z! The feeling you are experiencing is not uncommon and is shared by most if not all of us who are fortunate to own one. Again, welcome and enjoy the forum here, there is lots of good information and people willing to share.

RiCharlie 10-18-2010 06:30 PM

Thanks

Of course every time I buy a car I figure I got taken in some way but this time I got a 2009, no previous owner, 380 miles today, touring and sports package for 33,000. What do you think?

ThoriumHotdog 10-18-2010 06:43 PM

Congrats on the Z. I wouldn't mind finding a nice 2009 leftover. What color did you get? Take some pics! :)

RiCharlie 10-18-2010 06:50 PM

color

Its white and I will post some pics as photography is my hobby. Give me a while and I will post some pics that will really be good...Hopefully something really exceptional...
But I wont get the car until Friday at the earliest. So maybe next week or the week after..
PS this is going to be the longest week in my life!! :)

Zaggeron 10-18-2010 06:55 PM

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Touring/Sport for 33k is a pretty good deal

RiCharlie 10-18-2010 07:41 PM

My wife has this foolish idea that I intend to break the 65 mph speeding limit and that is why I want a radar detector. How can I convince her that its just something to ensure I am not falsely accused???:)

Zaggeron 10-18-2010 08:34 PM

I haven't been married for a while now, but If I recall correctly, stuff like curtains and furniture tend to take a female's mind off her husband's new toys ;).

SophiaZ 10-18-2010 08:46 PM

Congtrats on the Z! I guess we're probably the last ones to buy a 2009 lolz. I woulda haggled on the price abit tho IMO..I got mine for 31k with 72 miles...but 33k is still a good price:tup::driving:
ENJOY and be safe!

congrats on the Z, just explain your wife that it's piece of mind of knowing ahead of time if their is a speed trap ahead. 2 detection will pay off the radar, so it's a good investment.

RiCharlie 10-19-2010 08:35 AM

When I quoted the price of the car at 33 I was including sales tax and documentation fees and all the other stuff they throw in...

m4a1mustang 10-19-2010 08:36 AM

Congrats on the new Z!

I have a question.. Someone asked me to "friend' them on this site. I clicked ok but what does that mean?

Nothing much. Just means you show up in each other's "friends" section on your profile.

You're being stalked. :eekdance:

tjlazer 10-19-2010 06:04 PM

Welcome! Apparently you are doing much better than some! Your wife *allowed* you to purchase a Nissan 370Z! You are doing great so far!!! Now go negotiate your next purchase: A V1 radar detector with InvinsiCord. ;)

RiCharlie 10-20-2010 07:26 AM

radar

:icon18:
I hope you are not implying I intend to travel even a single mph above the speed limit?

The use a lot of laser around here so its not quite so easy...I have purchased a used Klingon cloaking device...

RiCharlie 10-20-2010 07:32 AM

still waiting

I still dont have the car.. I feel like a kid who finds that Christmas keeps getting further and further away! Minor problem in that I had to wait for stock sales and money transfer but the money is there now so I am hoping i can get the car asap. but I am so excited I have not been able to sleep at all for the last three days... I told my wife I was never this happy since i found out that girl at work wasn't pregnant!:icon18: She has no sense of humor..:(

RiCharlie 10-20-2010 04:10 PM

Heres a question. If I am using the paddle shifters and I forget and slow down to a very slow speed.. will the engine stall or does it automatically downshift for me?

Also if i floor the accelerator but dont downshift as much as I should will that harm the engine with the extra load? Sometimes I want just a smooth increase in speed without all the engire noise... esp when I am trying to convince the wife this is just a small economy car.

What positions did you liquidate? Just curious.

The car will automatically shift to neutral to prevent from stalling when you stop. As for accelerating, I think you're not going to convince the wife of anything economy if you're asking about "flooring the pedal", regardless of what you do with the transmission. :rofl2:

I sold shared in Vanguard Wellsley income fund.. for some reason it takes longer than selling individual stocks for the trade and for the money to arrive.
I am one and a half hours from getting my car!! I absolutely could not sleep last night or the two nights before!!!

But back to my question.. if I shift at low rpms at full throttle will that harm the engine since its always doing more work?

RiCharlie 10-21-2010 08:16 AM

Well I am all set to get the car but I know my wife is negative.. she said she doesnt like the idea and added " I just hope this car is not low to the ground!!"
Oh how I envy the single ones!!

SophiaZ 10-21-2010 08:33 AM

Hopefully she somes around. It took my husband 3 days til he finally agreed to letting me get it.
Yes, its alittle on the low side ;)

RiCharlie 10-21-2010 01:02 PM

Hey gang here is a laugh.. I got the car today and she came with me. Well I drove very slowly and she commented on the fact that the car seemed noisy but I explained that was because that is just the way sport cars are. Then she said she liked the heated seats.. well to get to the point on the highway I wanted to pass someone so I pushed the accelerator about one third of the way down.. and that was all.,She commented, "Well now I see what this car can do!!" Yup!! that is what she said..when I was not even half way down on the pedal... she hasnt a clue!! She is a great wife and I could not ask for better but sometimes a little discretion is best all around!!

SophiaZ 10-21-2010 03:37 PM

Awesome! Congrats on the Z!! We like pictures ;)

ChrisSlicks 10-21-2010 04:01 PM

Congrats! My white Z came from RI as well, dealer trade. That was back in March of 09.

Niiiiice. Now, if you get a chance get a tune for that badboy. Some people like to get an extra valet tune so the valet driver doesn't rev the engine up or race it around the parking lot. I suggest getting a wife tune just in case she grabs your keys on 'mistake'. :) Pictures!

Give me time on the pics.. I am involved in a number of things and the weather is not all that good. As I said photography is my hobby so I dont want to submit anything but my best work..That may take time..but I will post them.

sonic370 10-21-2010 06:49 PM

Welcome aboard. Sounds like you made a fair deal..
You will love the AT. But the manuals are great also....

Good luck staying under 65

Jquad 10-22-2010 01:23 AM

RiCharlie 10-23-2010 03:08 PM

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I went to take pics of my new car the other day hoping to get some shots with foliage in the background.. but it seems the peak is past so I came away with nothing.. thought they would make a good background..Maybe I will go to the beach..I guess I am really more interested in driving it than photographing it!!

Waiz 10-23-2010 06:48 PM

RiCharlie 10-24-2010 10:15 PM

question..how do i get a pic associated with my name as others have done?

ThoriumHotdog 10-24-2010 10:23 PM

If you click on "User CP" [top of screen, second dark gray bar] you'll be taken to a control panel. From there you can click "edit avatar" which will let you choose or upload a picture that will appear under your name. If you click on "edit signature" you can upload a picture that will appear under your post [like mine]. Hope that helps.
