New 370z 7AT owner... a couple questions
Hi everyone. New Z owner and new to this forum.
I picked up my 370z 7AT touring last weekend and I just have few questions for all the Canadian Z owners out there. 1. When I run the car after the requisite 30 second warm up the automatic transmission shifts rather abruptly while doing a smooth/slow acceleration until it is fully warm (I have to drive slower through my neighborhood, Max 25km/hr). Is this normal? Feels like a "clunk" when it shifts up. Will it calm down after the break in period? 2. What did you guys receive with your car as far as owners manuals? What did they come in? I've read a lot of things about a leather case that comes with all the manuals, service and warranty books, plus a cd. I just got a crappy plastic wallet from my dealer. Is the leather case and cd an American thing like my dealer tells me? I absolutely LOVE this car :driving: and I just want to make sure I get all the "little" things that it comes with. Thanks everyone. |
The transmission should shift smooth even when the car is cold and it shouldn't feel like a clunk. I did get a leather case but I only carry the paper manual in my z.

Mine does this as well. I just passed the break in period and it still does it. After it's warmed up it doesn't "clunk" (It's not so much a clunk sound but jerky shifting) I wonder if there is an adjustment they can make? |
Thanks for the quick replies. I am thinking the "clunk" is the car saying "should I shift, Shouldn't I, Should I.......... Oh heck, why not... Clunk."
I'm going to a different dealer. I'm not too happy with the one I bought from and don't want them servicing the car. Maybe the other service dept. can figure it out. One more guy from the US with the leather case. Any Canadians? Going to do some more driving today. Hoorah!! |
No leather for me. No clunk either.

My 2008 350z had a really nice owners manual case.
The 2010 370z...the case is more like a "holder" with elastic and a snap. Lame. But I didn't but the car for the owners manual...so it's a non issue. |
Mine came with a leather case with the manuals in it, it was in the little compartment behind the passenger's seat. /shrug

Man, I guess up here in Canada Nissan is being REALLY cheap as two other dealerships say that there are no leather cases for the 370z....... Only the Infinity.
Bah, what a load of crap. One is for luxury, one is for sport, but both are in the same tier I believe as far as Nissan dealerships go. The Auto transmission has been calming down on the indecisive/clunk shifting, but still there when the car is relatively cold. I really only notice it when accelerating very slowly (darned neighborhood speed zone). It's completely smooth when running at operation temperature. I'm going to chalk it up as "the calm before the storm". Once I leave the neighborhood it's all out fun!! |

Mine does the exact same thing...does anyone else have this issue? It's between the 2nd and 3rd gear shift, up and down. I wonder if there is an adjustment the deal can make to smooth it out. |
