Help i need some advice!

Well first of all my name is sebastian and i just recently got a 2009 PW 370z
and well im pumped :happydance: that i have it but its my first manual car well my first car for that matter. the point is that i can start from a dead stop but when i shift into second its like i hear a noise as if i was grinding something.:shakes head:

I AM pushing the clutch all the way in before i shift im just worried i might be hurting the transmission or something.... PLEASE HELP

Just let the rpm drop and shift a bit slower. You're probably pushing it in to hard...

im shifting at like 3 grand and i do it really slow its like as soon as it reaches its spot where it sit it makes the noise

Are you maybe letting the clutch up a little to early?

Nobody in your surroundings that can drive a manual?

my dad is actually teaching me but if anything i ride the clutch way to long he is always telling me to accelerate faster after each shift

For what it's worth, this is a clunky transmission. It's not uncommon to hear/feel the clunk on a perfectly good 1-2 shift.

I meant that maybe you already lift your foot a little before you've got it fully in the next gear...

yeah i spent countless hours trying to figure out why this transmission is so loud
and Xan no like i said i actually make sure i dont let off until i am sure that i can

Xan 04-21-2010 08:22 PM

Ah ok, because riding it means that you have the clutch half way engaged (slipping) for too long...

I guess it will just take some practice. Just to be sure, did your dad drive your car without any noises?
I mean it might be a bit clunky (although mine shifts smooth, but I'm used to my 350 transmission), but you shouldn't be grinding the gears...

oh ok thanks for the clarification i guess i just have to live with the noise

So if i push and hold the clutch all the way im i burning it?

+1 rep by the way

No you only burn the clutch if you hold the pedal anywhere between fully pressed in and released for too long.

You'll get it with practice. Just leave VDC on. :)

If it's a manual, use if for practice... ;)
