Bought a White one
 

Well, after a few weeks of negotiating and confirming the Z is what I wanted I finally pulled the trigger today. I bought:

White
Base
Sports Package
Floor Mats
Trunk Mats
Kick Plates

I paid $400 over invoice ($32042) after talking to many dealers and going back to the first after I got the best. It's funny, I started at MSRP, then 1% below MSRP, then 4% below MSRP, to 500 above invoice, to 400 above invoice. I probably could have gotten another 100-200 more off but I wanted to give the business to the original dealer that let me test drive it.

Anyway, completely excited, I just have to wait for the car. It is at the Nissan distribution area (Tennesse?) and just needs to be shipped and received in MA. Looking forward to it, can't wait.

I'm surprised you were able to find a base with sports package. It seems most in wa are touring with sp.

Well, once you start to have the dealership search, there are many cars at the distribution area awaiting a dealer to claim it. I actually saw quite a few base with sports packages in the Ma/Ri/Nh area.

Woohoo, got a call today and the car goes on the truck tomorrow (NJ) for delivery sometime this weekend/early next week. Get the seat modified, and I finally get the car.

Yeah, I about shot them when I showed up and they had it parked between 2 cars. That would have been a deal breaker if the car had a door ding. Needless to say, it was perfectly clean, and I am enjoyed the first day of driving it. Wife took a few more pics last night, I will post soon.

2 more, once again at night. You know, I don't know why but for some reason every time I look at this car, I think of the VW 'Fast'. It reminds me of it - good or bad, so I put up a pic of it as well. It might be the fact that the top of the head looks like the hood or I just think fast when I see this car.

any plans to tint?? or KW coilovers

I currently do not plan to tint, but a suspension upgrade will be in the future. Every car I have owned since 95 has had wheels/intake/exhaust/springs (some combination of all) so eventually that will happen to this car. I will probably wait some time though, to see what comes out, and the experiences.

As for negotiating, you just have to be patient, and be willing to walk out. I started out at MSRP, then went to 1% below MSRP, to 2% below, to 4% below, and finally to 400 above invoice. My best recommendation is deal with 5-6 dealers and feed each best price off of the others.

Any insight as to why you went with a base instead of the touring model?

Money. I really only care about the performance, all of the additional leather and stereo stuff I don't need to pay for.

Touring would have been that much more, and I was stuck with a budget.
