Si to 350Z to 370Z

As the title states and in the section implied, new 370Z owner from Tampa, FL. I went from an 07 Si Coupe 6MT, then to an 07 350Z 6MT, and now an 09 370Z Touring 7AT. I have been looking at upgrading for quite some time and finally found the right one. This will be my first automatic car that I've bought and although I was hesitant at first, I've really grown to it after test driving it. 09 White 370Z w/ Navi, 51K miles @ $18K, and when they told me they would pay off my 350Z with no negative equity rollover (I was about $3K upside down), I decided to trade.

Will upload pics after a complete wash/detail.

Welcome and congratulations! :tiphat:

I, too, have an '09 Touring with the AT. First AT I've owned and I really like it. It shifts as quick and as hard as I need it to. Lot's of fun of with the flappy paddles. Although, sometimes I do miss rowing gears with a MT. :driving:

Yeah I def understand what you mean. In fact, I find that my left foot still looks for the clutch pedal before starting the car. At the same time though, since my job requires me to drive alot, i don't miss driving manual in rush hour traffic.

And I know the 370Z comes with a bit more power than the 350Z, but I was shocked at how noticeable the difference is.

This. Plus, Bluetooth, XM, and heated seats have all made my workdays a lot more enjoyable. I sometimes drive up to 100 miles per day meeting with clients. My previous ride was an '02 GT, which was loud and a blast to drive, but was about as bare bones as you could get. I viewed cruise control as my only luxury!

That was the case with my 07 Z, being a base model. The only reason why I decided to buy was bc of the HR engine, but didn't realize base models didn't even come with cruise control.

I live about 30 mins north of Tampa 09 7at hit me up sometime if you want to work on them together. I'm always up for learning/toying with the car

moore.speed 02-19-2015 12:52 PM

Nice! I'd like to drive a 7AT. I didn't want to go automatic this go around but I would assume they perform very well.

zeeder 02-19-2015 02:08 PM

Congrats on the new ride! I've not driven the AT but have heard good things. The only thing that gives me pause is that I hate the look of the shifter and gates.

vtec to vvel 02-21-2015 09:23 PM

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Honestly, I was expecting to get hated on bc I got an auto, rather than a manual. At least that what happened on my350Z.com when I posted my new ride.

Yeah I was really hesitant on buying auto, but decided to give it a test drive and was hooked.

i thought i would regret buying an auto, but i love it more each day. the auto tranny performs shockingly well. the sensitivity of the throttle response is like if the car knows what my right foot wants it to do.

Welcome brother

NYBladeZ 02-22-2015 08:46 AM

Welcome...autotragic lol. The manual gearbox on a sport 370z is slightly above average so I can't hate too much. Still manual is the way to go! Jk, I think purist manual drivers are endangered species.

HEK 02-22-2015 06:32 PM

welcome to Z life :driving:

Congrats on the purchase. So the three of us seem to live pretty close.. I am in Hernando County. Close to pasco .

Same sentiments with the 7AT, manual all my life til the Z. I am happy.

janglez 03-04-2015 11:57 AM

Thanks man!

Look at us, tri-county representation lol, as i stay in hillsborough county. I don't know what it is about the Z auto tranny. Though it's not like the dct in the gtr, maybe it's a placebo effect, but something about the Z auto tranny feels different than other autos i've driven.

someone actually told me "What a waste of a car" at a redlight bc of the auto tranny  but then again, it came from a kid in a older model civic with the altezza lights that used to be cool when i was in 8th grade.

Im right there with ya Buddy..Traded in my2000 S2000 and was hesitant about the 7 speed auto. But I totally am enjoying the power on tap..I do miss driving the s at times, but like many others will say, unless your driving on a track you really do need to drive the S like you stole it and at times in daily driving it was just a drian on the enjoyment. If I were wealthy enough I would have kept the s and Z, but I am more than satisfied with the 370..Congrats my friend and drive safe. This forum is a wealth of good information and really keeps the excitement of owning a z alive..

I saw your introductory thread a few weeks back and again, welcome and congrats man! i've always wanted an AP2 s2k and when i see one even today, i still give the driver a thumbs up. and yeah, i sometimes do miss rowing through the gears, and my left foot still looks for the clutch pedal before starting, but i'm def. happy about going auto and no regrets. i dont know about you, but when i went from my Si to my 350Z, that was when i knew what torque felt like :rofl2:
