New 370z owner in San Antonio, Tx

So I just bought a 2009 370z Touring Manual. So far it has a Stillen exhaust and I just bought a K&N Cold air intake to install this week. Ive had a few issues with it since I bought it about a month ago. First of all my fuel gauge sensors are reading wrong. When Im close to empty my gauge reads half and when I should be at a half my guage reads 3/4. So I know atleast one of the two sensors is off but I don't know which one. I also don't know how to do it. Most mechanics would charge about 400$ for just service not including parts. Next my service engine soon light is on and at moments it'll blink. Ive read the code and its p0300 random cylinder misfire and just that code nothing else. In idle im sitting at about 1.2 revs which I think is a little high. I have not had the chance to change spark plugs but that is one thing im going to try next. Any ideas on the fixes? or point me towards a thread that does have the answers? Thanks for any info I might get.

Clean your MAF's first and see if it clears. Fuel sensors are an issue and I had mine done under warranty. I would replace both of them if you are going to do it

Thanks ill try it later today see if that works. As for the fuel sensors I called Nissan and they said its not under warranty. I'm currently at 88,000 miles and its an 09. Any idea when the warranty expires? and the part is like 170 a piece :/

3 year 36k mikes is standard unless there is an extended warranty purchased. You will have to foot the bill on this repair. There is a san antonio Z group you can join to get help with your fuel sensors replaced or suggest a good place to take your car to.

The extended warranty/service plans are transferable, but 6 yrs / 88K mi is probably way past whatever the previous owner purchased. I had 5 yr / 72K coverage on my last Nissan vehicle.

The powertrain warranty on Nissans is 5 years and many dealers offer unlimited miles, but if you have an aftermarket K&N intake it's a very safe bet that any dealer is going to deny a warranty claim on the Mass Airflow Sensor (even if the car's 1 day old).

Well I haven't put the intake in just yet. I'm going to do the MAF cleaning when I install them. So I guess its going to be a pretty penny to get new fuel gauges, I guess the carbon fiber hood I want will have to wait.

Alright Tadpole so I cleaned my MAF's 3 days ago and still no luck with the code being gone. Next I think I'm going to replace my spark plugs since im getting close to the 100,000 mi marker. Should I just replace my spark plugs or go to a coil pack assembly instead?

Please take note that your car probably needs key cycles to eventually turn the light off. Start/off cycles so the ecu will correct itself over the course of a few days. If you are planning on changing your plugs I say go for it but coil packs are expensive and hold off to change those unless you have too.

Did you clear the code? If not stop by an auto parts store and have them clear it, most do it for free.

mmares94 02-13-2015 02:55 PM

Ok Ill stop by and clear the code and see if it comes back. What I meant is there's coil pack assemblies out there that will eliminate the need for a spark plug and plug in directly.

Not that I have seen.
