Guardians of the Galaxy

Pretty good actually. I say it's worth watching. A character from 1976
makes an appearance after the credits roll. Pretty quacky... I also have
the comics from then with the Kiss appearance .

I enjoyed it as well. FWIW, I've never read a single comic, so I had no idea what to expect.

To be fair, its really not like the GG comics from the 1970's, and I was ready to hate the silly raccoon Rocket character....but in the end I likes the movie and there are not too many people that know the original comics and the characters. Just old farts like me that bought them 40 years ago. FWIW its worth the GG made their first appearance in the Defenders Giant Size annual in 1975 or so, I have that issue. Starlord is an original character from the 70's....so I'm guessing he will be the dad of Quill and might make an appearance in movie 2. I hope we get to see Adam Warlock and Captain Marvel at some point.

I loved it and have no problem saying it's the best Marvel movie to date. Didn't have a whole lot of information going into it, but I'm glad I didn't. I've read Iron Man all the way back to Tales of Suspense and watching those movies, especially the last one, is a little painful at times.

The casting was pretty fantastic. I had confidence in everyone except Batista prior to the movie (figured he was only chosen for his physical appearance) and even he left me satisfied when I walked out of the theater.

The story was good. Action was there, comedy was there (but not to cheesy or overdone), and all of the main characters actually felt like the had some substance/history to them without having to spend half the movie on exposition. One thing I really liked was that they didn't feel the need to put in a romantic side story that normally (for me at least) detracts from the main heroes vs villains stuff.

No romance...how I hope this trend continues.

Yeah, there may be the slightest hint but there's nothing in terms of Tony/Pepper, Thor/Jane, Cap/Peggy, Spidey/Mary Jane, etc.

Quill would have nailed Gamora for a hook-up if she wanted it......but hey, Captain Kirk did that green chick too....green minty fresh? But yes, good to see a movie where the hero or anti-hero does not get all worked up over a love interest.

A couple of fun facts about that (via IMDB)

Quote:

According to Vin Diesel, the voice of Groot, he recorded Groot's iconic line, "I am Groot," over 1,000 times.
and

Vin Diesel recorded all of his "I am Groot" lines in several different languages, including Russian, Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese, and French so that they could use his real voice in the film around the world.
I like to read the Trivia on IMDB whenever I watch a movie.
