Not gonna say I'm terribly excited. Interested, sure. But right now Batman is in a state where he needs another "origin" story to get back on track. But to package that into a story with Superman? Uhh...seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

(It doesn't help I've never been a Superman-guy.)

I’m so done with this super hero crap! I want to see them push a villain movie. I want to see a bad guy that gets away.

I'm a big fan of the World's Finest and Public Enemies, but I've always had a problem with "Batman vs Superman". Sure, both characters certainly bring something different to the table. But come on, Superman vs Batman?!? I bet Batman's extensive training, including his education from the League of Shadows, didn't include "how not to die from a Kryptonian's fist to the face". Batman will die in seconds if they ever get in a brawl. DC should've pitted Superman against Wonder Woman--even Shazam or Lobo. Better yet, they could've made Batman's suit more like Iron Man's; at least he'll have a chance. I get it, Batman's crafty, clever, prepares for everything, etc. But doesn't Superman have super intelligence? Batman vs Superman is almost as ridiculous as Black Widow vs Thor.

With that said, I will watch the sh*t out of this movie! Bring it on!

This movie is an adaptation from Frank Miller's graphic novel, the Dark Knight Returns. This comic novel is near legendary now, and well written, mostly because it makes it plausible for Batman to beat Superman. If you don't know about the book and like the genre, I recommend getting your hands on it.

It also was a pretty fun read because it heads into the near future, where Batman is aging and retired, and Superman has moved into a darker place, motivated by his self righteousness and the ends justifying the means. It really exposes the character flaws for each superhero, which is sorely needed. As someone mentioned before, they always win.

I don't know if it would be a direct adaptation, I hope it is. It would be a huge win for DC to do something different from Marvel.

I want to see a movie made from DC's Spectre character, Liam Nelson can play Jim Corrigan. That or a Sandman movie, with Johnny Depp and Morpheus.....use the Doll's House or a Game of you for the story line. Perhaps even Kingdom Come....now that would be great.

I can't remember where I read it, but the movie won't be a direct adaptation.

Agreed.

You know what would be great?

Batman not in a jet black head to toe rubber suit driving a ******* tank :icon14:

Miller's Year one. A movie version of that would be good. Minimalist Batman.

Boooo. The audience has seen so many iterations of Batman. They don't need a "reboot" or whatever.

^^ I really hope Batman just picks up from where he left off. No need to show anything more than a few flashbacks. After all, the movie should focus on Superman as the Man of Steel sequel.

You know we're going to have to sit through a lot of the back story again so that one guy in the audience isn't sitting there thinking "why is that guy dressed up like a bat?" It's Hollywood. It'll be aimed at the dumbest part of society.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. Ultimately, I would like to see Clark grow become Superman, interact with a believable, even Nolan-esque Batman, and battle a villain that would take both of them to take down. I like where WB went with the realistic, somber tone of Man of Steel. No need to make it bright and happy like the Avengers.

theDreamer 07-23-2013 07:20 AM

I would prefer the two team up, maybe have some mini fights but then a larger threat becomes more important. Maybe it is time to bring in Darkseid, I just recently rewatched Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and really enjoyed the stand off between Darkseid & Batman.

Spoiler is for those who have not seen Apocalypse yet.
( Click to show/hide )
The fact that darkseid would surrender to Batman shows how powerful he is.

Also, rumors have been floating around that they might go with a Batman Beyond style era Batman for the newer movies. Basically finding someone older to play Wayne (to skip over needing Bale) and to help bridge a gap.

No thanks to an old Batman. I am totally fine with a new actor playing the Batman in Nolan's universe. Let's just get on with the story; no Batman flashbacks on a Superman movie.

I'm still wondering who WB will choose to play Wonder Woman for the JLA. She's one of the most misunderstood characters, yet her powers rival even Superman's. Either way, she'd better be smoking hot: tall, decent boobs, beautiful face, and a toned physique.
