Pacific Rim

I thought it was good, not great. A good way to spend a summer afternoon as its too damm hot to ride the motorcycle. Anybody else see it yet?

Nut_N_Much 07-14-2013 04:52 PM

Watching it tonight :happydance:

Wonka2581 07-14-2013 05:10 PM

Just watched it, really reminds me of a old game I use to play, anyone remember Mech Warrior? It was a good movie. Not amazing but good.

The guy that plays Jax from Sons of Anarchy was the lead in the film and Ron Perlman was also in it, who is also in Sons. He was Hellboy as well.

I'm easily amused so I loved it. Some people complained about Man of Steel having too much destruction. This movie had about the same, if not more.

Chuck33079 07-15-2013 09:27 AM

I thought it was fantastic. It was everything I wanted a giant robots vs. kaiju movie to be. Big, loud, dumb fun. Guillermo Del Toro always puts out great stuff, and you can tell how much he loves all of the old Japanese rubber monster movies. And there was no fast edit/shakycam bs. He let you see what was going on. My gf rolled her eyes when I told her we were going to see this, and she ended up absolutely loving it. SHe's taking her two nephews to see it this weekend just so she can see it again.

DCNISMO 07-15-2013 10:33 AM

I hope she does make you see a chick flik in return!

Chuck33079 07-15-2013 10:39 AM

Nope. She voided that option when she loved Pacific Rim. If she had come out unamused, I'm sure I'd get dragged to some POS chick flick.

i've been a mechwarrior since MW2, and play MechWarrior Online now. Gipsy Danger looks absurd compared to my 55-ton Centurion :rofl2:

The specs on Jaegers are hilarious. 79 meters, 1900+ tons? Holy **** haha.

Loved this movie though. Haven't had that much fun in a while.

Then you're missing out. This was one you really need to see on a big screen.

DCNISMO 07-15-2013 04:10 PM

You need a movie screen to get the full effect, some places have it in Imax and 3d format. 3D movies give me a headache though.

Chuck33079 07-15-2013 04:14 PM

The 3D headache from this one wasn't nearly as bad as some others I've seen. I'm not sure what triggers it, but 99% of 3D movies leave me a little queasy and cause a headache.

:iagree: I remember 3 hours of Avatar 3D was brutal.
Anyway, definitely looking fwd to seeing PR in IMAX 3D this weekend!
