I don't know if any of you guys watch Lost Girl, but Ksenia Solo (yeah, last name is Solo!) is rumored to be in the final consideration stage of being cast for the role of Jaina Solo. I'd love to see her have a starring role.

The original three and the new cast, director, writers etc....

After seeing Episodes I,II and III I am not overall thrilled by this, its just Disney's chance to destroy the franchise a little more.

It can go either way, Lucas destroyed it with I, II, and III on his own, giving it to Disney and having JJ director it could be the only saving grace right now.

The trailer looks intense, but I definitely get a (J.J. Abrams) Star Trek vibe from it.

Hmm. Well, it can't be worse than Phantom Menace, or have worse characters than the completely unwatchable (and rather cartoonishly racist...) Jar Jar Binks, or the unfortunately monikerd Count Dooku (forever thought of as "Count Dookie" at least by me).

I know there's all kinds of internet grumblings over the silly "sword guard" on the light saber... frankly, it will be a 2015 X-mas miracle if that's the most hamfisted thing in the film.

That said, I'm a long time sucker for the franchise. I had Star Wars bed sheets as a kid, all the Kenner action figures, the Death Star playset (complete with trash compacter "trash" made of foam chunks and little rubber trash monster with periscope like eye stalk), all the various toy spaceships (including the dual seat Cloud City of Bespin flying thing and the Tatooine-bound sand speeder) so... yeah... I'm in.

Oh my god... that I even have such detailed memories of all that crap is embarrassing. Jeez. At least if I was smart about it, I would have flogged the lot on ebay instead of binning them... :shakes head:

KaienZ34 12-02-2014 12:28 PM

All my old SW toys are in the attic, nothing was kept in box or not played with. Many great hours kicking the galaxy's butt and loving every minute of it.

DCNISMO 12-02-2014 01:58 PM

I'm guessing that in the Jedi Academy one of the students does research into the dark side, experiments with it, and then gets overcome by it. Then the Sith Dark lords rise again. Perhaps Lia and Hans have the kid who does the dark side experimenting, and Luke his uncle has to change him back or put him down.

You are close to the plot.
I believe the rumors are, the jedi order is still gone. Luke is in hiding (his power consumed him since he was never trained in how to control it), and Lia/Han have 1-2 kid(s) who is/are looking for Luke to help in something.

Hmmm perhaps the Lia and Hans have two kids, one goes to the dark side by experimenting and hearing tales about his grandfather and one goes to the light side. Then Luke has to try to save the dark one with the help of the one that went to the light.

In the books;
( Click to show/hide )
Han and Lia have twins, boy and girl, bro goes dark..sis kills bro.

I have a feeling Disney is going to scrap the EU for the most part and write it themselves. Just a gut feeling though. I've read some of the "leaked" plot points and they definitely have gone their own direction fwiw.

To spoiler: Whaaaat??? Nooooo -- that's a bummer.

So is that supposed to be played out in the films?

Will any of the original cast from the first round of movies be making cameos?

EDIT:

Awright!

Wait -- who was Peter Mayhew???

SwissCheese 12-22-2015 09:24 PM

Gonna blow the dust off this thread . . .

So anybody else see it yet? I saw it last Friday, and am going to see it again tomorrow!

Jonny 12-23-2015 02:17 AM

^ I saw it. It was pretty good but it left off with a lot of unanswered questions. Cant wait for Episode VIII

Jordo! 12-24-2015 03:22 AM

I good buddy of mine said it kind of followed episode IV (first actual movie), and if so, it's probably not bad at all.

It's always better to tell one good story over and over again with a few variations than to develop a new story that isn't as good (for example: the entire Dragon Ball franchise).

I haven't seen it yet -- I'll wait for everyone wearing an "I brake for wookies" shirt is done with it :D

Mike 12-27-2015 06:19 PM

I really liked it. a good continuation from the original 3, and not stupid like the other set of 3.

Hotrodz 12-27-2015 07:58 PM

Standing in line to watch it now in imax 3d. Excited, I saw the original in 1977...I was a senior in high school lol.

Aw man, you're awful brave to come in here before seeing the movie! I'd be worried about seeing a spoiler! Don't worry, I'm not gonna ruin it for anyone. Enjoy the movie!

daveb91 12-27-2015 08:34 PM

watching the force awakens I was thinking the whole time I have seen this movie before.....in 1977.

zmanelite 12-27-2015 11:19 PM

Good and wasn't disappointed , I actually think it has to do more with Luke vs Han and Leia
As in its Luke's long lost.....

Funny you say this. A friend of mine said it felt like watching A New Hope. She said it was good, just not as good as people make it out to be. Oh well, I'm easily amused.

BOLIO 671 12-28-2015 05:14 AM

Movie was really good but left a lot of unanswered questions for me as well.....Like who is the girl Rae (Main Character)..so many rumors that she's Han and Leia's daughter and twin sister to Ren.....and that sue may be Lukes daughter or even another Anakin Skywalker who was just born from the force.....

Also does anyone know who is the old man in the beginning that passes off the map to the pilot in Jakoo?

I think he's just a friend of the Rebellion and the Jedi's. I wonder if he is connected to Rey in some way.

Here's something that I've been wondering about since I walked out of the theater. It contains spoilers, so I'll put it in Spolier tags.

( Click to show/hide )
Why did Luke go into hiding after the "incident" instead of tracking down and stopping/confronting Kylo Ren? Why would he let Kylo Ren just leave and spread his evil across the galaxy?

Hotrodz 12-28-2015 08:12 PM

I thought the movie was very good and what I really liked is they did not try and upstage the first movie as it was epic and I hate using that term but it was in so many ways. I thought the story was familiar and intriguing as well because of the holes or gaps. I had many of the same questions at the end as well.

BOLIO 671 12-29-2015 05:50 AM

Those are very good questions too SwissCheese.....I wondered the same thing....Guess we're gonna have to wait til Episode 8 to find out....that's probably in another 2 years 2017 at the earliest....

HulaGirl 01-14-2016 11:11 AM

I saw it about 10 days ago. I yelled a bad word with what happened on the bridge.
I'm still pissed. I told hubby to NEVER bring that DVD into the house because I am NOT watching that again.
That said, I liked the movie except for the scene on the bridge.

Hotrodz 01-14-2016 03:57 PM

Lol Harrison Ford said his character should have died in episode 3.
