Anamoly's avatar just reminded me that I watched Drive ~2 weeks ago. Good movie but damn it was brutal.

HKYStormFront 03-07-2012 02:33 PM

yea i had heard it was pretty intense... that's a serious understatement. the intensity is best described like a sling shot. every 10-15 mins it's just building and building until BAM!! something happens and **** goes wrong in people's life, usually at the driver's hands. the fact that albert brooks was not nominated for best supporting actor this year is just shameful. that was definitely an oscar worthy performance. bryan cransten was great too

I got queasy during one scene in particular. Considering that I have been overwhelmingly desensitized by society and video games throughout my life, that says a lot about its brutality.

HKYStormFront 03-07-2012 02:38 PM

yea same here. there were several times throughout the movie that i thought "enough is enough! he's dead!", particularly the elevator scene lol. imo, if you were to look up "tension" in the dictionary and/or wikipedia, it should reference Drive. i will say that i wish there had been maybe one more scene of the driver doing his "night job", the opening scene is awesome, i could have used another one in the middle at some point as long as it didn't derail the story too hard (which is probably why it wasn't in there)

So what did you think of Drive?

HKYStormFront 03-12-2012 03:22 PM

seriously... if you haven't seen Attack The Block and enjoy british movies, particularly Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, you definitely need to check it out. it's fantastic!

I'm a big fan of dry humor. Those were good movies that you just mentioned.

Watched "straw dogs" and "our idiot brother" yesterday. Both of them were so terrible I had to murder a homeless person.
