Metal Gear Solid Movie!

So how many of you guys played this growing up? :happydance:

Metal Gear Solid movie in production at Columbia Pictures | Digital Trends

cow 09-08-2012 02:39 PM

Exciting. I hope a MGS movie would do justice to the impeccable series.

It sucks the article you linked is super snarky & written by someone who's obviously proud of himself, despite being an average writer who is dismissive of the subject matter.

I wonder who would play Snake, & at what point in "his life" the story would take place. All things considered, unless it's a completely original script, I'd imagine Snake Eater would best lend itself to a screen adaptation.

diddy535 09-08-2012 11:44 PM

Yeah that article is junk, but I heard about it on a local radio show the other day and wanted some confirmation. Who is playing Snake is still up in the air.

Snake Eater would probably be best, Sons of Liberty II was a favorite of mine though. But couldn't stand for a movie about Raiden that would drive me nuts! Curious about any more info they have coming out.

Huckleberry 09-09-2012 12:35 AM

i'm more excited over Ground Zeros!

cow 09-10-2012 10:33 AM

I doubt they'd use Raiden-- too much wiener would get an NC-17 rating.

(Unless the movie followed him sneaking around in his box.)

diddy535 09-10-2012 02:54 PM

Hahah the box!!! Completed forgot about that!

It's be interesting tonsee if they try to splice stories into one movie or make a few films.

theDreamer 09-10-2012 03:12 PM

If they want to do it right, they start with the 'death' of Big Boss as an intro and move into Solid Snake for the rest of the movie for a nice ending and easy sequel or possible trilogy.

ZMan8 09-10-2012 03:20 PM

Considering the games are already cinematic I'm interest to.see how they adopt ot into the movies. As far as which plot I would pick, it Would be the original metal gear solid. (Shadow Moses)

I wouldn't be surprised to see something "inspired by" the games in the framework of the storyline, versus an adaptation of something in existence.

diddy535 09-10-2012 08:52 PM

Added a poll to make it interesting.

cow 09-10-2012 08:57 PM

I like that you put the games in in-MGS lore chronology, versus release date.

diddy535 09-10-2012 09:00 PM

Thanks! Looking at the list I kind of want to go back and play in that order...

cow 09-11-2012 07:16 AM

I was thinking the same thing.

theDreamer 09-11-2012 07:48 AM

Co-worker just told me they re-released some of the older MGS games in HD (or an upscale version) for a good price.

The Z monster 09-11-2012 09:12 AM

Anyone ever watch LOST? Sawyer (josh holloway) from lost would be a good snake is he got in good shape. He's got a great attitude for snake. He's super sarcastic and could def pull off the Snake character. As for raiden I think they'd probably use the guy who played John carter and Gambit in the wolverine movie. Taylor Kitsch I think is how u spell his name. They'd die his hair blonde or white or whatever tho. That's just my 2 cents tho. I think josh holloway would be perfect.

Thats old new brotha lol. It does look 10966394042762 times better tho. Well, not THAT much better, but def more enjoyable.

Super stoked about this, but that's usually bad because then I have high hopes for the movie, and then I get disappointed.

They've been out for a while, but I'm tempted to re-purchase just so I don't have to find my Playstation & PS2 (I can't remember if PS2 is backwards compatible).

PS2 goes backwards to PS1 and some PS3 (the first year production) will go back to PS2.
I am tempted to buy them since I no longer own a PS2 anymore but will wait until they do a bundle or something.

cow 09-11-2012 10:36 AM

I bought my PS3 in 2008-- I think it's an 80GB (which I think was the second size they released). Would that be backwards compatible?

Although I suppose I could insert the game & determine whether it played....

theDreamer 09-11-2012 10:38 AM

I think the 20GB & 60GB were the only ones that were backwards compatible, but throw the disc in and it will let you know.

cow 09-11-2012 10:42 AM

Word. Worst that can happen is they don't play & I have to buy all the games.

Ohnoes!

cow 09-11-2012 10:49 AM

The pack is $35 on Amazon. I think I'm just going to buy that since it'll look better on modern TV's. I have a tube TV I use to play my SNES & N64, but that high-pitched whine kills me.

Now to decide, PS3 or XBox.... Were there any multiplayer features added?

Rone 09-11-2012 11:09 AM

I think Liam Neeson would make a good Naked Snake or older Solid Snake. If they put Tom Cruise in it, I'm not watching it LOL

diddy535 09-11-2012 06:23 PM

:stirthepot:

Christian Bale in the running to play Solid Snake? -Destructoid

Liam would be good. Tom cruise is a great actor regardless of how he acts off screen. But I hear ya. And Christian bale can pull off any role. I wouldn't have even guessed he'd want to do it.
