That building is totally useless, but awesome at the same time. I hope to visit one day.

Mike 01-04-2010 06:56 PM

awesome pics! I have really enjoyed my visits to Dubai. I'm switching back to a smaller plane now, so I fear I won't be back for a while.

tranceformer 01-04-2010 07:26 PM

I read somewhere that because of the design of the building, the top 30 or so floors are tiny (and useless).

Greasy 01-21-2010 05:24 AM

The pictures make it look so nice. I personally thought it looked very awkward and out of place though. I didn't see it 100% complete, but it was almost done...

G37Sam 01-21-2010 07:28 PM

Oh you should see it now!

They have those beam projectors keeping that place lit just so nice!

theDreamer 01-21-2010 07:35 PM

Sam, do you have any distance shots (night or day)?

There you go!

Not sure I can get any better pix, that thing won't fit in a pic without having a wide lens and a stand lol

So being here everyone enjoys seeing pictures of this building and such, but what do people there think of it?

frost 01-21-2010 07:52 PM

That thing has businesses as one would expect, but don't people have like, apartments in there as well?

Well so far, it's just wow. Wherever your drive in Dubai you can spot it from many miles away. Every single night in the week, the area around it is jammed with people just snapping pix. No ever thought it will come through, especially with the crisis and the deep sh!t Dubai was in.

There are apartments, offices, restaurants and an Armani hotel in that thing! You can read all about that place here: Visit the Burj Khalifa -- The Tallest Building in the World

Just look at the facts & figures lol

I think we can sympathize :D

G37Sam 01-21-2010 09:01 PM

Haha sounds reasonable :p

Abu Dhabi Govt had to help Dubai out with billions (no numbers were released) but the amount was large enough basically to have Dubai rename that Skyscraper from Burj Dubai to Burj Khalifa (Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the country)

And that's a lot!

I would love to see this building in person. I have a thing for architecture and this just blows my mind. I probably will never be over in that corner of the world in my life, though. :(

I'm just a little white boy from Philly... I've been over to that corner of the world quite a bit. Never say never.
