Kansas City Second Annual Ali Kemp car Show, August 24

Mark your calendars for Friday, August 24. KC Trends and others are sponsoring the second annual car show to benefit the Ali Kemp T.A.K.E. Foundation. As last year, it will be held at FUEL on the NW corner of 119th & Metcalf. This is a very worthy cause and I hope to see a lot of you there!

this is worth talking about..... As I see none of you a throwing it up there, and we all went.

great cause, but not gunna lie it was pretty poorly organized. I really hope they learned a lot from last year.

i am willing to go just to show support.

ya last years was a real bust. there was just nothing going on. may still consider it

ya agreed, it is supposed to be better than a typical FF and it was kinda worse.

kinda wanna give them benefit of doubt on first year tho. maybe this one will be better.

I talked to Chad today. The venue will be larger and registration will be smoother.

JacksonZ33 08-13-2012 01:09 PM

so me and dan were talkin friday, we really should assemble for this one.

no car show this year, and now a cruise following instead.

c'mon guys.......

I don't remember this but apparently last year they had a people's choice type car show. Chad got pretty "annoyed" when the losers approached him challenging the results, how many votes were they short, etc. That pretty much turned him off of a car show format.

I totally understand his predicament. Some years ago I organized the people's Choice car show at Branson Z Fest. I kept it as above board as I possibly could including having people I didn't know count the ballots. When the winners were announced a guy from St. Louis with a 350Z got in my facing whining because he didn't win, and pretty much demanding to see the count, the ballots. I refused saying the ballots were destroyed and that was that. BTW, the St. Louis guy was not a kid. He was probably 50.

I will be out of town so I look forward to seeing pictures (cough Jackson) and reading (cough Jackson) about the turnout, etc.

not gunna lie, just read that it's $20 this year!!!!!!!!

kinda funny considering last year it was $5 and there was a show.

edub370 08-14-2012 08:14 AM

$20 is a lil high for me. but im still considering it. who else is goin?

I seem to recall Chad telling me some food was included in that price. If any of you are attending the HAZCC meeting this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. you can ask Chad personally.

Even though I can't attend, I still plan on donating just because I support the cause. Ali was killed just a few blocks from my house and I drove by that pool several times that day. Makes me wonder if I'd looked over at the pool as I passed if maybe I could have done something to prevent it.

JacksonZ33 08-14-2012 01:47 PM
