7th gen honda civic. I got my 2002 civic ex coupe for 6k. Can't go wrong really

Do those suffer from the transmission issue like the Accord? Also hate the Honda's timing belt service

Unfortunately all Automatic Honda's from that time period suffer from trans issues :ugh2: but it depends on the owner IMO I have seen 7th gen civics with 250k miles on original trans/engines and then there are some that need to be replaced at 100k. I assume if all you do is floor it then it will break quick.

Also, for timing belt DIY. I'm about to, bought all the parts, just waiting on a free weekend. (dealer quoted me $860 for labor/parts & parts are only $120 :gtfo2: )

I know i spent a little more then you are looking at, but I bought a 2002 bmw 330ci last year for the wife. had 54k miles on it, runs and drives like new for 10k. most that year where going from 8-12k depending on mileage. being a year older now should be able to pick one up around 7-9.

I also spread my viewing range on auto trader to 300 miles, found my car in oshkosh

Dumb question.....for a private sale out of state.....do you drive it with no plates? I've always bought cars from dealers but hoping to find a decent private sale and pay cash and not deal with any added fees or sales tax (I know you pay some when registering the car but its much less).

Hey Jim, did you have any issues registering/changing the title on an out of state car to IL? Just asking because I found a clean Maxima here in Ohio that I'll buy if the numbers are right a drive back. Title is clean, been in OH it's whole life.

Even though the car is registered out of state, is it the same process? Just go to the DMV, fill out the paperwork, submit the title and wait for the new one in my name? Sorry for the noob questions....never bought private sale before.
