That car was nothing but bad luck.. |
Have to clean the car again........Just did it yesterday.....
|
I washed the car late last night since I don't have time to wash it today or tomorrow, but I didn't expect rain today! Now the car has tons of water spots and dirt. >.<
Now I gotta make time to get the car cleaned up before leaving to KC tomorrow. My friend, who is supposed to ride with me, has a fever. Hope he gets well enough to go because he lived there for awhile before getting laid off. Anyhow, I did a test run today, and the boost gauge shows max of 8 PSI. Hopefully I can use a lil bit of time to get accurate target boost before getting the numbers. |

We shall find out tomorrow:tup:
|
Mine will be clean (doing it after work before I come) but it will NOT be detailed......Mine is far from a perfect car anyways as the first owner didn't treat it the best.
|
IM estimating at least 430 whp. What's more amazing is the response now with boost building up sooner. I usually hit 5 psi easily. It only peaks around 6k.
Anyhow. Just got done wiping car down. Heading out before 10. |
Thanks for putting this together EDub. A really good turn out and I wish I could have stayed later but family calls.
|
pics or it didnt happen!

great day! subie guys are a really good group. the day ran a lil long, but good turnout from both sides none-the-less. I only have a cuple crappy cell phone pics. But i know we had a few guys out with digital slr's so i'm sure we won't have to wait long for good pics
all the cars out back at the dyno shop http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...-dyno-dash.jpg unfortunately i got no pics of cars on the rollers... but heres the post dyno crusie http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...ash-cruise.jpg few of the subie guys.. http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...uys-joined.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...-zs-cruise.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/edub3...rally-pigs.jpg big thanks to everyone that came out. i believe at one point during the dyno session i counted somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 cars show up. congrats to DIGItonium for getting the massively big ;) highest hp z award with 447whp (IIRC) and Trey with highest hp subie at 318awhp! definately will do it again next year! |

That was pretty awesome I must admit. That's honestly my first time to see dyno runs in person and I more than impressed.
Really only took a couple photos. Mostly videos but they came out pretty good. Only like my second time to ever try the "record" button on that thing. Gotta wait till I unpack computer or go to work Monday to upload. I really was impressed by Scott's run. Was nice to see a na vq run. So when's the next event, haha |

Thanks for having us out. It was a fun [and cold] day! Haha. It seems like my numbers were progressively getting better. The last run was the best at 447 whp and 380 ft-lb with boost around 9 PSI. Not bad with the F.I. HFC, but I'm pretty sure the gains will be better with test pipes. Updated comparison videos coming soon.
In regards to the little trophy. I'm flattered! I've got some cool ideas with LEDs for it before shipping it back to Ethan. :) Here's the dyno chart: http://www.the370z.com/members/digit...t-lb-9-psi.jpg |
Your car was looking great DIGI. It was great seeing all the cars run on the dyno. The problem is you see all the great cars and it leaves you feeling like there is more to do. My wife doesn't like it when I have that feeling lol.
|
I don't like it when I have that feeling. I know it's going to cost me more money.
|
haha good to see that my wallet wasn't the only one cowering in terror after i left the dyno day.
|
Haha thanks! Remember reading the import mags and envying and drooling over crazy fixed up cars? In HS, there was a guy who drove a beautiful fixed up 300ZX TT. He was only in HS, and he was very well known. He later drove an early 90s NSX to school as well. All I had was an '87 200SX SE-V6, which was retired in '05.
When I had the 350Z for 6 years, all it had were GReddy side skirts and Volk LE-37t (personal favorite). It turned heads, but didn't have the go go power to make it stand out. The least I could do with the 370Z is sorta bring back the old 300ZX TT sound and feel. It's not quite there, but the sounds from the turbos definitely brings back the good old 90s feeling. If you guys have hood modding suggestions, please let me know! It'll be cool to get some functional vents with CF inserts or something. In the meantime, I'll try to work on the video and mod the trophy on the side. |

If you show up next year I'm hoping to take that trophy:ugh2:...if I can get all the issues fixed. |
Jackson actually cut a hole in the upper part of the front bumper of his 350Z and put a carbon fiber insert in the hole, so now he has more cold air going into the engine compartment. I'm assuming he has an intake right behind the hole though. It looked pretty good.
|
^ actually still waiting on the air intake. should be here any day now. it took me longer than I thought to find it in the color I wanted. guess its pretty rare.
|
so who has the sweet pics of this shindig?
|
That would be digi....but he did show up later in the day. I was distracted by car problems to take pic's. The only ones I took were almost the same ones you took.
|
My friend will send pics later this week, so I will post some here. The files are huge.
|
|
Sweet vids! Pretty cool to hear the sound comparison. I never had a stock pull. Btw, I wonder if MKC applied corrections because the numbers on my print looks diff.
[ninja edit] ICS spellchecker fail. |
could that be one of your earlier pulls? i thought you were only in the 447whp neighborhood on the last pull

My friend is still pretty sick, so he hasn't been able to provide me the pictures yet. He got back from a 2 day trip with my dad to get his new boat from Virginia and barely got any sleep. The plan is to put together a video showing stock, 6 PSI, and 9 PSI pulls (from 50 mph in 3rd, and a 1st to 4th test) along with the dyno and some better driveby videos. |

All three were done. The first was my best and Tower has the right number. I personally was hoping for mid 280's, so I was a little disappointed. Now back to studying which way I want to go for FI. The stock car does hit max torque very early and holds it to just short of redline. I'm more interested in increasing torque. Horsepower is great but we need torque more.
|
^^ Agreed. torque gives the perception of speed more than hp. i want to FEEL the power in my car. i also was expecting anywhere between 285-290whp. maybe some ark pipes or something woulda changed that.
seems like the only FI kit that doesnt give a HUGE bump in torque is stillen SC kit. but even those guys are seeing well over 300lb/ft |
You guys are right, under 280 whp is what I would think most stock pulls are. I forgot you guys have minor bolt on upgrades. That's definitely a heart breaker dyno, but my results feel very realistic (i.e., my butt dyno doesn't report more than 450whp haha).
I've always attributed my results to conservative out of the box tune for 91 octane. As much as I would love to get a more aggressive tune I'm told that it's more than adequate and "safe" for daily driving. With this much power, things get squirrelly in 3rd and 4th! It's plenty for everyday driving especially when it's so easy to get 4-5 PSI at half throttle versus barely without a boost controller. As I've said it many times with the 370Z, the throttle response isn't as aggressive as the DE/HR 350Z. |
My shorties don't add anything but noise and looks...my exhaust is an CBE only, so not much gain there...the canned tune doesn't really add much hp but the throttle response is better. In other words, mine is stock really.
|
just took the snow tires off the car, went for a ride and totally pi$$ed my traction control off! lol im very thankful for it actually if it wasnt of im 99% sure i would of just totaled my car! Fuggin scumbag sandy roads from winter still!

It took my friend forever to get me the photos from our recent meet. I finally got the dyno vids and am currently working on a YouTube video. I just need drive by footage to finish up the video.
Here are some pictures: Nissan 370Z Forum - DIGItonium's Album: Car Meets |
