Just a few shots of my week long camping trip to Arkansas. This is normally a motorcycle trip which my group has been doing for 7 years. I sold my motorcycle not long ago, so the Z went down. I had no problems keeping up for the 835 miles of curves. That is 835 of just touring the great roads of Arkansas. It doesn't include the trip down and back home.
The camp site is about 2 miles from cell phone range. Breakfast and dinner for the week was over the camp fire. Lunch was where we were at during the tour part of the day. There are lots of pics but I just included some of the ones taken by one of the motorcycle riders while he was riding and some while he was in the turn :ugh2: |
dang scott, sounds like a pretty fun adventure.
|
props to the dude snapping pics in the bendies on his bike
|
No kidding...those were much sharper corners than they appear in the picture...of course he didn't get the many really sharp corners........
|
lookin pretty cold as far as fast fridays is concerned... but on the fence...
|
Yeah same here. Never been before so I might head down for a bit just to check it out.

while i say "no garage" i mean no dedicated garage to myself. my building has a garage that the z stays in under a cover. |

40th anniversary sitting outside my office in corporate woods..Anyone know who it is?
|
sure don't. havent seen a 40th ann. around this neck of the woods
btw, anyone wanna hit up the last ff of the year this week? |
ya ima go to last ff, just to show loyalty haha
on a side note, left my z sitting for last week and half and let just say she was not happy. stalled 3 times on my way to work. just needed to floor it a couple times, she happy again. but guess she's doomed to forever be driven daily. |
The mad rush that we were in has finally stopped. Plus I'll be off 151st @ 5pm so I will already be in the neighborhood.
|
So my z is defineatly fukd up.
Stalled middle of 87th/i35 intersection. Would crank, but never fire. Then will start up out of no where. Then stalled out while going 50mph. Died if it got too much gas, and at stop lights, even mid turn. Park it for an hour, then it's completely fine (both days same story) I've read everything from put my oem air box back on, to cam sensors, throttle body, bad gas, or failing fuel pump. No check engine light... Any ideas?? |
prolly not the cam sensor. i had that go out on my volvo that will throw a code and completely kill your car. like wouldnt work till i replaced it. it kinda just works or it doesn't. i would start by cleaning the maf. when that started giong in my volvo, it did the exact same thing u are describing. but, i got a check engine light. i guess a fuel pump could be the culprit. (maybe try changing the fuel filter?)
but i would take it to nissan. they can plug it in and watch voltages as your car starts stumbling to see whats not functioning correctly. one of othe very few times i would recommend going to nissan about it |
When you hit the gas does it sputter at all before it dies?
I had a fuel pump go out on me which had similar symptoms. Another sneaky one is the alternator, sometimes it will cut in and out for a while before it fully fails. |

fuel pump/filter - when it was going down, that was the first thing that came to my mind. sadly i agree, this may be one for nissan.:shakes head: they haz ultimate scan tool. problem is its not doing all the time. And I can't get across how hard that will be for me to take it there. Quote:
thought battery/alterantor, but i can sit and crank and crank 100 times (strong too) and it wont start. now im reading about fried ecu's (hints no code) or something faulty with the security chip in the key/ignition really waiting to see what happens tomorrow morning. |
From the sounds of it , I'm going to go with the fuel pump. I've had on go out and it did the same thing. If you floor it will sputtered and sometimes run smooth. Last option is the fuel filter. You could have water in tour fuel and it could be causing the issue. One last thing it could be is you pissed someone off and they put a marble or two in your gas tank. It runs fine until it's sucked up by the fuel line...then when the car is towed away it will start fine. Don't ask why I know this, cause I've never done this to anyone...ever.
|
There was a run of bad gas going around at the pumps for a while too, but fuel pump sounds more like it. Might sound crazy, but try resetting the ECU?
|
ya so didnt stall this morning.....
drove around my block for a lil, stuttered at one stop sign but never died. so then i drove to work, with no problems so much more frustrating when it doesn't act up all the time. makes diagnosing a nightmare. i just know it will do it friday night. |
Couple thoughts...
check plug/connection of cam sensor (corrosion?). Does the 350 have a serviceable/removable fuel pump relay? Get to the top of the fuel pump and tap on it while the car is idling and see if that causes it to misfire? |
ya read both your suggestions elsewhere, valid points tho
ima do thorough check of everything tonight, hopefully that wire tuck isnt coming back to haunt me. side not, just went on long drive again with no problem she's 10 year old car with 145k on her now, so could be anything at this point. |
did it again, first major stop light i hit on the way to work
about 2 minutes in, not fully warmed up, but off the bottom struggled for 45 secs before she died. turned over 3-4 times before it started if i give it a lil gas (push it up to 1k rpms) can keep it running. but sometimes that just kills it immediately. no drop on the power gauge or oil pressure while dying |
sounds exactly what my volvo did when the MAF went to sh*t
|
I think we need to get together one last time before winter sets in and have to park the Z for good.
|
ff is tonight. still not sure if i'm going yet. hopefully it clears/warms up
|
Ya that's what I was just thinking. It's cold.
Finally killed my iPhone this morning. Had it 3.5 years. Shoulda bought 5 when it came out, now I can't find 1 |
nuki for the muthafukin win!!!
simple ecu reset and letting sit unplugged for 12 hours. no problems this morning. fingers crossed it's fixed grrrrr.... soo easy, should have done it first, live & learn:driving: |
LOL I hope thats it and you're good now.
:tiphat: |
so the longer I left it sit the more likey it would be to screw up. leave it more than say 6-8 hours would die at the first stop light I came to after warmed up.
sat at my house since friday, did reset, and drove perfectly this morning. :happydance: |
nice!
on a side note: steering wheel should be in today! |
D@MN IT
Died this morning. Idk what to do now. Won't know if parts are bad till I just start replacing ****. Why am I not getting a d@mn cel. |

kinda wanna see if I have hand scanner (old teacher has one) plugged in as it dying if it shows anything. otherwise, I gotta drop it off at night, and tell them to let it sit overnight, then hope it acts up. |
also, check to see if buying a new 370z would resolve your issue
