I'm with Edub in that when you get into that price range it is about emotional connection more for me than stats. I could buy one of the fastest cars out there but I'll end up buying what I feel most connected with and 911 turbo is one of those cars. I'd never turn down a GTR nor will I bash one, nor will I think less of someone who owns one. I do not have an emotional feeling for that car is all.

We aren't really comparing apples to apples here either....

2014 MSRP's
911 Turbo - $148k+
GTR - $100k+
370Z - $30k+

talking used prices tho. And u can easily get into a 996 turbo for $40k. 997 will be around $70k+. 996 turbo gets my vote

and u can do 550whp in a 370z for about $15k (not the point tho)

man after the Z i still wanna go supra or 911 turbo. supra has always been a dream car to me. mild engine work and a single turbo and i'm in heaven

How can you say a GTR is not a drivers can tho? or not fun? Have you took a GTR around the track. So A car not having a 6speed makes it not a drivers car?

Is a 911 turbo a drivers car?

All around performance everything the car has to offer is the goal thats why i would take a 700hp GTR over a 550 Z. I just dont know what the Z has to offer that the GTR cant master even better.

But a 911 and a GTR are identical cars. granted the 911 curb weight. So what ever you bash about a GTR i mean your kinda bashing about the 911 too

Weather doesn't look terrible for tomorrow night. On the fence. Anyone going?

I kinda feel what Ethan's saying here. Then again, I've never taken a GTR around a track, so I can't honestly say I have a reference point. Yet, something makes me still want one. If they made a GTR that was a manual, I bet it would have even larger market appeal. And yes, that is the one thing that always made me shy away from one (at least when I used to be able to afford one.) I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Trust me the feeling of driving a GTR is something else....I had that same feeling for it not being a manual but once you get in and drive it, you immediately forget about it. GTR is still my dream car, just too bad i cant afford one.

I drove a Cayman, Cayman S and a 911 Cabriolet before deciding on the Z. I wasn't looking at cost of the vehicle, just for 'seat of the pants, wow factor'. Then it was look around and see what I spot around town. Lots of Caymans & 911s, not many Zs. I really liked the Cayman S, I'm still considering ordering one fully loaded with the yellow brakes, custom paint and interior. I'd love to drive a GTR just to have another reference point. That being said, since I like to DD my cars, having a GTR would probably just completely unhinge me, given that I can't stand the idiots that are allowed to drive here.... :icon14:

nope. those cars are such different machines. on paper, they might look similar, but there is a certain "feeling" that cars give you. kinda hard to explain.

for instance: if you push a gtr too hard into the corner, it will have loads of grip then eventually start to understeer letting u know you're pushing it too hard, a 911, on the other hand, will have loooooads of grip followed by promptly spinning and putting u *** first into a ditch.

now thats a terrible example, but its the only thing i could think of to explain the difference in a drivers car vs a gtr. both will get thru the corners very quickly, but that certain element of danger in the back of your head in the 911 adds a little excitement imo.

now i'm not saying the GTR is a bad car or anything. hell i'd drive one, but i do understand why people say they are big video games

That was what I noticed about the 911 I drove. The car tends to 'lead' from the rear, it's real easy to crack the backend loose, kind of like the old AC Cobras. I couldn't upset the Cayman since it's mid-engined. I'd like to take a GTR out for a drive, just to see what I'm missing. :icon17:

So not true... I'm on the GTR forum more then im on here and you can ditch a GTR just like any other car. really don't feel like finding videos n a Friday night to show you tho

Even if the car had a manual ppl would still find something to complain about and a reason not to buy it. A GTR being a drivers car is not gonna sell the car. A manual GTR would be so much slower. The 7At 370z takes off on a M6 370z a dig or roll. Horsepower sales cars just ask the 370z and the Mustang 5.0 right now.
