I've been really bad about updating the thread in the last few months... We're heading to Kart2Kart this coming Thursday at around 6:00 if you would like to join us. I'll update the OP and post more details/directions tomorrow.

Hey guys going to be a Z owner VERY soon. If everything goes according to plan this month!

I am very excited to start a new project with the car, not going to go as far as my last sports car. But really wanted to meet other Z owners to get some ideas. so far i am going with powder coated rims, tinted windows and lights on a pearl white Z. really wanted to hear some exhuast setups in person that people might have in this club which i also want to do.

but just wanted to pop in and say hello.

sig11 02-05-2013 10:22 AM

Awesome! Nice to have you. Come say hi over on the glzc forums! We just met over at JD Karting in Novi last week and have another meeting coming up end of this month again.

MightyBobo 03-23-2013 10:17 PM

Also, if I get crashed into at the iRacing booth one more time while trying to win, I'm going to punch a baby...

Hahah. I had a good close race yesterday. I was on pole one car hounded me and passed at one point but I was able to get right back by to win. Had 4 cars within a couple seconds!

thekinn 03-24-2013 01:46 PM

for anybody - come on out!

edit - either i misread something or a post got deleted.. not sure. but i thought someone was asking if the Monday meet was for members only or anybody.

Jesus, took me until Sunday to finally get my win (and he had a hat stashed away apparently, because he knew 2XL was way too big of a shirt for me).

Took some magic foot work since I started in 3rd, and both 2nd and 1st were competent, but I got it. I wish I'd have had some closes races, but it seemed I was doomed to race against kids and people who suck at driving lol.

sig11 03-27-2013 10:59 AM

hah! At least no one took you out on the formation lap. :P

Wish I had a hat... maybe I can shrink the 2XL. I wanted to go back and race more Sunday but it ended up pretty late after brunch with some local friends so we just went to the bar. :) Their booth definitely worked on me. I'm looking for Fanatec wheels now so I can play more.

Nope, I was shocked that DIDN'T happen, though. One girl sat in the seat and didn't understand the pace car. So she just took off and started driving all by herself while everyone was doing the warm-up lap haha.

You didn't miss much on Sunday, trust me. Lines were longer than usual. All they had was more 2XL's, and the only reason they gave me a hat is because they knew I kept getting hosed, and was in line so many times.

I'd stick with a Logitech G27, personally. A lot cheaper than the Fanatic's. Tell me what you end up doing about the cockpit setup - that's the only thing I'm missing right now. I'm tempted to build my own out of wood, since I already have a "racing" seat sourced...

I have a Playseat that I picked up mega cheap from a local friend... very similar to what they were using. I want a Fanatec so I can use it on the Xbox as well as PS3/PC. And their higher end pedals have a load cell instead of a spring in the brake as a bonus! I could set that up in front of my 56" tv and be set.

The brake pedal is fixed easily on the G27's with a special piece of rubber. I cant remember the type, but there are MANY write-up's on it online, and it is a simple DIY that gives a solid pedal feel.

Understood on the compatibility, however - the XBox not using the G27 is BS if you ask me.

I don't like the Playseat setups specifically because of the metal bar down the center. I want more of a natural, open car feel. Blame my fat feet for that :-/

gbrettin 04-11-2014 08:50 AM

Anyone planning on going to Zdayz? I'm going to head down to NC on 5/14 and was wondering if anyone wanted head out as a Z group.

sig11 04-11-2014 04:42 PM

Yep! We're running the exhaust competition again this year too! We have one caravan leaving the same time and place as years past... Departing around 6AM Wednesday from near I275 and I94. We'll meet up with a couple groups from Ohio before noon and arrive at Fontana around 3-4:00. Had a couple folks from west michigan meet us last year for the whole trip.

More info will go up on the GLZC forum and FB soon. :)

gbrettin 04-21-2014 08:28 AM

If anyone needs a room for Zdayz hit me up. I'm staying at Nantahala Village and have a reservation. My buddy who was going to head down with me is no longer able to take the trip with me. The room is about 140 bucks per night and I now have an extra bed available. The reservation is Wed - Sat.

Send me a PM if interested in splitting the bill with me!

sig11 04-21-2014 04:34 PM

Looks like a nice place. I got lucky and should be getting an FVR cabin in the next couple of days.

gbrettin 04-21-2014 06:05 PM

I thought they were all sold out at Fontana Village? I'd rather stay at Fontana if that isn't the case.

gbrettin 04-21-2014 06:07 PM

I just noticed you said you got lucky... so I'm assuming someone canceled.

sig11 04-21-2014 06:49 PM

Yep. Just waiting on the actual transfer of the reservation...

gbrettin 04-24-2014 02:51 PM

Sig - would you mind if I meet up with you guys at 275/94?

It might be that Or I could possible join in on 75.

We would love to have you! Are you on FB? We will post the times and everything there and on the glzc forums at the least if I forget here. :)

gbrettin 04-25-2014 07:32 AM

Done and done.

RogueZ817 08-20-2014 10:14 AM

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and live in the Monroe area. I am currently looking for a new 370z.. I was interested in a 2014 base+Sport Package, but I think I'm going to wait for a 2015 Sport Package model.

Are you guys partial to any dealers in the Detroit area for support? Any respected techs in the area?

I would be open to meets with Z owners... I enjoy OTD at Waterford Hills and did quite a few there with my 2013 Boss 302. My goal would be to build a street/weekend track car.

sig11 08-20-2014 05:53 PM

Awesome! Come on our to one of our meetings and the larger group may be able to help. There was one master tech in the area that everyone liked (had done everything from alignments to engine swaps) but I think he may have moved out of the area.

I have had good and bad experiences at most of the local Nissan dealers. Boyland is the only one so far to support the club. They sold and we lost contact with the management unfortunately.

You should say hi to Steve (thekinn) at Waterford! He drives the Lemans sunset Z in their time trials group. I have pretty much exclusively run with 3balls racing the last few years. I bought a wrecked 2005 for racing after getting sucked into HPDEs by the SEMPCA at Waterford. :) I had a wreck this June but I'm hoping I can get the car back 100% this weekend or next.

Hey so i am new to the detroit area. I live in oakland county and was wondering if this group still meets up? Would really like to check it out. Just got a new z like 3 months ago and just joined these forum

sig11 06-14-2015 01:44 AM

Absolutely! We've been keeping a fairly regular schedule too. 7:00 on the last Monday of the month at Buddy's Pizza in Novi.

Sorry about not keeping the thread updated. I try my best to keep the calendar on the website up to date but sometimes I just fail. :P Usually we will send an email if we cancel or move the meeting or event too. You can sign up for that on the web page (Great Lakes Z Club | News and events for the Great Lakes Z car club)

Matt-370z 06-14-2015 05:32 PM

sweet! sounds good! i will do my best to make the next one and hopefully sign up too

sig11 06-15-2015 09:26 AM

I about forgot... the Facebook group/page are really pretty active too. You might give them a look if you do the FB thing.
