I saw a silver sport Z getting towed on Friday night. Wasn't sure why exactly, didn't seem to be damaged or anything. Wasn't in my Z at the time.

Masa 01-27-2013 05:51 PM

Another steering lock failure sounds like. :(

b1adesofcha0s 01-27-2013 05:55 PM

Was parked on the shoulder though so I'm not sure about that. Unless they stopped in the shoulder for whatever reason and then it locked up when they started up the car again.

dmhenderson 01-27-2013 06:12 PM

Dui

Masa 01-27-2013 06:27 PM

Fuel starvation then lol.

b1adesofcha0s 01-27-2013 06:34 PM

No cops there though. Just driver and the tow truck.

b1adesofcha0s 01-27-2013 06:35 PM

And it was a long azz straight road :icon17:

Masa 01-27-2013 07:41 PM

Hmm what other problems does the Z have? Clutch slave cylinder failure? lol

Or... gas prices bro. Couldn't make it to the next station.

m4a1mustang 01-29-2013 07:37 AM

Black Nismo followed me on 495N hot lanes. Tags were 370 something. I was in the red s2k.

4r3s 01-29-2013 09:33 AM

pg yesterday around quarter to 5pm, columbia rd and 108 intersection. you were turning left to go east on 108 I was waiting at the light to go west on 108.

eastwest2300 01-29-2013 09:37 AM

Oh, I forgot to mention, on sunday around 2pm, I was on BWI parkway headed to laurel in the s2000, I pulled along side a 370, and gave a wave. I believe it was platinum graphite Z, but it was hard to tell with the salt residue on his car.

Thought you were talking about me but mine was on a tow truck....steering wheel lock strikes again.

eastwest2300 01-29-2013 12:26 PM

ohhh no, damn. that sucks.

b1adesofcha0s 01-29-2013 12:37 PM

Damn that does suck

slippery4678 01-29-2013 12:50 PM

yeah...I was gonna pull the fuse right before my warranty runs out in June, but at least I get a new one for free. Tischer nissan was very nice and easy to deal with.

eastwest2300 01-29-2013 01:06 PM

Gosh, Im so glad I pulled that fuse just a couple weeks ago.

chieuxuan 01-29-2013 01:43 PM

:shakes head: another steering lock issue, glad they fix it for you:tup:

Masa 01-29-2013 01:56 PM

When they replace it with new one, pull the fuse anyway lol.

Haha... Should've done it right in front of them out of spite... Tischer gets rep for having it in stock and getting me back in my Z in under 24 hours.

Masa 01-29-2013 03:28 PM

Yeah props to the dealer for covering you with fast turn around but I would pull it anyway. I have a 2011 with the Revision D lock and still pulled my fuse out. Don't want to be stranded anywhere.

dmhenderson 01-29-2013 03:53 PM

Tischer is a solid dealership. They replaced my entire clutch & flywheel on my old Z and didn't even hassle me about it*

*distinct possibility the cause of the failure was between the steering wheel and the driver's seat.

dmhenderson 01-29-2013 04:55 PM

At least you're not this guy. This is right down the street from where I work:

Doug@PTUNING 01-30-2013 03:22 AM

Spotted silver 370Z sport model on 495 toward Tysons Corner, it had a balls hanging by dummy rear fog lol. I waved and he waved back. A couple in other vehicle got confused to see two silver 370Z flying between the car :rofl2:

Is this apply for automatic or manual transmission?

Transmission doesn't matter. If your car has the steering lock (09' to early 11') then you are at risk of it failing. Even the latest rev. D locks have been reported to fail by some forum members.

slippery4678 01-30-2013 08:56 AM

I'm just gonna pull it, you guys have my scared. Anyone wanna trade a brand new steering wheel lock for some Gen 3's? :D

b1adesofcha0s 01-30-2013 09:16 AM

Only if the rest of your Z comes with it ;)

nah...

4r3s 01-30-2013 01:44 PM

One of my neighbors I just met last night got a White Subaru BRZ. I really like how that car looks. The first thing the guy said though was its way under powered. He mentioned another guy in the neighborhood had a blue z as well but had a kid and had to get rid of it.

dmhenderson 01-30-2013 01:55 PM

One of my coworkers is thinking about picking up a 2009 GT-R with 16k miles on it. I'm hellajealous.

I'll better get it check out tomorrow at the Nissan dealership at Manassas.
Thank you for the information!

Thank you for the information!

I don't believe they are replacing them unless they fail.
