You have it backwards, oddly enough. The 240 would likely be stomped at the drags, and at the race track is where it'd really shine...

There's much to be said about an amazingly light platform that handles great, and if he has it sorted, the HP gap wont be as significant as you think. It also depends on which track they go with - if it's something like VIR, that power is going to make a difference, whereas someplace like Shenandoah at Summit Point, the power wouldn't mean much at all.

There's a lot of variables. Seeing as the competition is going down in Vegas, I'd look into what tracks are near there...

I would think that the Z34 would blow it away in the straightaways and whatever distance the 240 could make up in the bends wouldn't be enough.

Again, I'm new at this stuff.

Pretty sure it's an oval track in Vegas btw

Motorsports Race Track - Auto Racing Near Las Vegas | Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch

That looks like a likely candidate. Some of those layouts favor the 370, and others favor the 240.

It's more about momentum. On the straights, yes, the 370 would be quick as fook. But as soon as those tight twisties hit, the 240 (again, assuming it's set up right) would cut through them like butter compared to the 370.

This is seen all the time with Miata's. They don't have straight line power, and then next thing you one, one is on your *** going through a tight section.

You f-ing kidding me? They have that track I just linked near there, and they are going to f-ing Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

This fight's over then - the 370 will pull put aircraft carrier lengths on the 240 on the MASSIVE straight it'll be given.

Like Rob said, that would depend on the track layout.

Pretty sure they said it was an oval but I could be wrong. Bear in mind, the point of this exercise will be to showcase their special snowflake so I would imagine they're going to stack the deck in its favor.

You are very correct there.

What a pity, I'd put my money on that 240 on a good, tight track. Not some stupid high-power favoring oval bullsh1t.

I think that's probably why they didn't pick a 370Z in the first place.

I think it's a Greddy TT pushing 750+ or so with every performance mod known to man iirc. That 240 doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

There WAS a car that would have probably beaten it but they didn't select it.

i saw no other z in vegas last week :) plenty of people saw me though :)

Nah, it's not that high. I think it's about 500 WHP or so.

It's not nearly as decked out as you think. Boost, exhaust, intake, suspension, and rims with street tires.

I believe that 240's running 350ish WHP, suspension, much lighter weight, and possibly better tires.

You're giving that 370 far too much credit lol.

dmhenderson 03-08-2013 09:08 AM

Oh I figured it was a monster. That's not really all that impressive.
