The smaller the pulley, the faster the blower spins and the more boost it produces. I don't know which pulley is right for you. I'd run that by Sam. He'll be able to tell you what size you want to run.

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 10:01 PM

I can still change my answer. I had initially gone with 80something based upon GTM's suggestion but I don't want to risk my motor.

Chuck33079 05-26-2013 10:04 PM

Call Sam and discuss it with him. He'll be able to tell you which one will be best for you.

dmhenderson 05-26-2013 10:05 PM

Is sam a GTM guy? If so I'll call him on Tues. I've been talking to someone named Mike.
Also I see after reading other build threads, I might be able to get a price break if I show them the car etc. Is Sam the guy to talk to?

Chuck33079 05-26-2013 10:10 PM

Gtm is Sams shop. He was incredibly helpful in talking me through the different options with his kits. I'd do it by phone, not email. They're swamped with the turbo kit group buy, and it'll be easier to get all your questions answered quickly. If there's any discounts to be had, it's the owner who gives them.

Wait. You are dropping in a 9 grand SC kit and have not talked to Sam yet?

Fail...

I think I talked to him 3 times before I pulled the trigger and then once or twice during the install where the directions were less than clear...

I'd like to think that Sam hired guys that have learned the GTM product line and can speak about them without having to run to the boss! If Sam is the only one knowledgable about the product line in his whole company, then I would say that was a "Fail" on Sam's part. I'm sure Sam would have been available to DM if needed. Just my $.02

Chuck33079 05-27-2013 10:30 AM

It's always easier to start at the top.

dmhenderson 05-27-2013 11:00 AM

I'll give Sam a call tomorrow.

SS_Firehawk 05-27-2013 11:38 AM

I work with Mike exclusively on my TSC kit. Mike knows his stuff well enough to give proper support and advice. If he doesn't know something or doesn't have the ability to do it, he will ask Sam or the tech working on my car.

G37sHKS 05-27-2013 11:51 AM

Oo speaking of Mike. He's one of the best people!

dmhenderson 05-27-2013 12:34 PM

I'm just going to call and talk to him to make sure everything is kosher.

dmhenderson 05-27-2013 12:39 PM

Ha ha look what just showed up in my inbox:

Hi mark

Mike will be off for the next couple days so i though I'll answer your questions.

As for payment there is couple option, You can pay via wire transfer/direct deposit to our account or via Credit card .

The down side to credit card payment is that we do charge a 3% credit card fees. So to avoid the credit card fees i would recommend the direct deposit . Just let us now witch way you want to go and we can send you the proper document for the order .

To get the order going we do require the full payment on the order, Once the order is paid for, it will be put the queue and we'll start putting the order together. Usual leads time is about 2-4 weeks depending how many orders we have going .

We'll firm up the shipping date once the order is placed .

Sam

A SC is not about show it is about GO!!!

you can't even tell it is supercharged unless you really know what to look for.

I have a "stock" trophy from Zdays to prove it...

When DM asks if he needs an oil cooler, it's a show car. A damn fine show car.

dmhenderson 05-30-2013 12:11 PM

So I talked to Sam at GTM and he tells me the z1 34 row cooler won't fit with their sc kit. He's gonna get me a revised quote with their add-on solution.

It's a show car I want to have some fun with.

So anyway, does that sound right to those of you running the GTM SC? I can't run the Z1 cooler? Still waiting on a revised quote from Sam.

SS_Firehawk 05-30-2013 01:28 PM

Idk about the Z1 oil cooler, but I know I'm worried about mine too... It's definitely large enough to do the job, maybe too large to fit without fabricating new brackets and finding a new place to put it.

That's exactly what Sam said. You will have to fabricate new brackets and throw out half of the hardware that comes with it because of the fact that you have to move the oil filter to the other side of the engine bay.

GTM offers a build-on solution - waiting on revised quote.

(whoever said to call that guy, thank you)

dmhenderson 05-30-2013 06:26 PM

Sam also pointed out that any relocation kit for the oil cooler would likely mount it in front of the passenger side wheel well which would make me have to choose between my brake ducts and the cooler which is no good.

theDreamer 05-31-2013 08:43 AM

My oil cooler is on the driver side wheel well just under the headlight for reference.
I think with the intercooler design, it is to close to the radiator, not allowing any other coolers between the intercooler & radiator like with the turbo systems. Along with the piping the only place for us to put additional coolers is on the edges.

dmhenderson 06-01-2013 11:14 AM

Won't fit there because of my brake duct kit.

Well, my oil cooler won't work anymore :( Sigh... or the brand new CSF radiator, or my new red Z1 tubes. This sucks.

Chuck33079 06-01-2013 12:07 PM

The radiator doesn't work with the twin intercoolers? That seems odd.

Yeah... For anyone looking at the twin superchargers...

"Next, the CSF radiator will not work since the water neck is a one piece setup whereas the stock radiator is a two piece setup. That means the water neck on the CSF radiator will interfere with the supercharger on the passenger side. We have a special elbow that replaces the stock elbow to give clearance between the water neck and the supercharger. Since the CSF is a one piece elbow, we can't use our elbow. Also, we use different radiator hoses to clear the supercharger brackets, belts and pulleys so your silicone radiator hoses won't work either."

This is from GTM

dmhenderson 06-01-2013 01:35 PM

I have to ditch my Z1 hoses? I mean yeah I guess the MAF breather tube would have to go but the rest?

That actually makes a lot of sense. That really sucks though.

Not 100% with your kit. But with mine, yes.

dmhenderson 06-05-2013 06:11 PM

Where can I get a black powdered mesh grille for a non-retarded price?

Just DIY. Seriously.

Steps:
1. Go to home depot
2. buy Black plastidip and diamond shaped aluminum mesh
3. Go home
4. Cut, dip, attach.
5. Enjoy that fat wallet

MyKindaGuise 06-05-2013 07:06 PM

Universal Aluminum Diamond Mini Mesh Grille

That is the same place I buy my vinyl from. Very recommended.

I would just DIY but plastidip weathers poorly and can get nicked up. Powder tends to resist. I mean I could just buy chickenwire and have a shop powder it but it'd probably be cheaper to buy something prefab or close to prefab and cut it.

"black or polished chrome".

Sold.

The oil cooler/intercooler are going to mount slightly off center behind the grille but not quite directly in front of the wheel. I can't have rocks kicking up through the grille and smashing into either because that would be...bad.

dmhenderson 06-05-2013 07:37 PM

Got my finalized quote from GTM today including the upgraded thermostat and racing oil cooler. It's a done deal. I have to wire them money (???) because they charge a 3% fee to use a credit card. I wanted them cash rewards but not that badly.
