Now, whether or not you like it is a mater of taste...

But... keep in mind, part of the "art" or style is to see how far you can go, which is why you will see some cars that border on the cartoonish.

In other words -- it's more of an art project than a vehicle, after a certain point, and that's where it will start to get a bit silly.

I think it looks silly but like I said, that's just my opinion. I genuinely wanted an explanation - that's all.

While you have a valid point to a certain extent regarding motorcyclists and tourists (might as well throw in teen and elderly drivers too), the tire beads are begging to pop off the wheel given any provocation (pothole, quick turning manuever, etc....). It was bad enough when people stretched narrow tires on wide wheels without the silly camber, but they've upped the ante with the angle of the camber added in.

Not to mention that any tire engineer will likely tell you that the tires are not designed to be driven with the load on that portion of the sidewall over extended periods of time (other than hard cornering). It's asking for all kinds of bad and unpredictable things to happen. And I'd bet that the majority of drivers with their cars set up like this are not experienced enough to properly handle the car when a tire pops off the wheel. I also wonder how often they check their tires for excessive wear to be sure they aren't worn down to the core.

However, you're right, it's their car and they can do what they want - I'm not arguing against that point. But when they are putting innocent drivers in their vicinity at risk, it needs to be called out for what it really is - stupid. When I encounter one of these cars on the freeway, I give them a wide berth and move ahead while mentally pointing and laughing a them. :)

Dude you're not at all understanding what I'm saying. It's not the fact that the car is dropped that's the problem. It's the ridiculous wheel camber and tire stretching that's dangerous. Have you ever been to a really large car meet/show? Those guys are the ones driving the most like idiots both on their way there and when they leave.

I haven't really seen one on the road either, but I've seen a couple at car meets. You can't really daily drive a car like that. They're mostly show cars.

Hella-stock.

SS_Firehawk 12-05-2012 06:30 AM

Buy the right size tire to fit the correctly sized rim with offests within the limits of the fenders and not lowering it to the point of uselessness... You know, it's called "DO YOUR HOMEWORK"

The use of spacers to extend the wheels outside the fender are equally retarded. I'd like to see what happens when such vehicle makes contact with anything but the road. I wouldn't mind watching a vehicle hit the rim/tire of a dumb *** that has it cambered or sticking out... I could imagine a catastrophic event as opposed to just a fender bender.

Compdoc777 12-05-2012 07:23 AM

Around here we have the guys with the wire rims that poke out like the old roman chariot with a spinner. They should be illegal because they stick out so far. I find it funny when they get on a tight road with a high curb and have to grind the. On the concrete.
