This. This right here is what I want the headlights on my car to look like - the black Z in this picture.

Do I need anything else to make this happen other than what we have planned?

(not counting the LEDs of course)

come to FFX this weekend and ask Jon - he'll tell you all about what was done.

Invited people from the MD Z club to attend this by the way but not to participate in the actual mod (at least on day 1).

There's an MD Z club?

I really don't see the need for a heat gun for this mod. Seems like the 2 methods of doing this mod are either by heat gun or oven, not both. I think we should be fine with just using the oven.

Yes, it's small. I'm by far the youngest member. They're more into classics than the newer cars. Modding is not something they'd be interested in.

Isn't a heat gun quicker/safer? Our Service guy doesn't want to give it to me for 2 weekends in a row but I can buy one for like $15.00 so it's not a big deal. I'd be willing to invest in a heat gun - I'm sure I'll need it again in the future.

What's "FFX"? Fairfax?

Actually the opposite. The oven method is much quicker and safer for the headlights. The oven allows you to heat the whole headlight at once vs doing it one small spot at a time. Also you can control the temperature better and are less likely to spot burn or melt the lens.

Hey guys I am going to retract my name from the "work" list. I will still come down to help out and stuff but I am going to do mine up here in PA. So that makes a new open spot for one of the otherss that were unable to sign up in time.

b1adesofcha0s 08-15-2012 10:08 AM

So who's actually getting this done on the first day? I'd rather wait till the 2nd day since I'd like to see how they turn out first. I'm still not 100% on doing this mod, I really just want to get the fly out of my headlight.

Alright. I won't bother with the gun then.

RandyD 08-15-2012 10:16 AM

lol... wonder how he got in there..

Masa 08-15-2012 10:17 AM

Trolling like a BAWS in the housing.

dmhenderson 08-15-2012 10:17 AM

I'll go on day 1 but the Nissan mechanic has to be there.

b1adesofcha0s 08-15-2012 10:17 AM

Had to have gotten in from the back part of the headlight. Dealership says they can't do anything about it. I either leave it there or buy a new headlight for $1k...... yeah fvck that!

dmhenderson 08-15-2012 10:18 AM

Also because I live fairly close, I can hang out and help with other cars on both days.

There's a service manager laughing his *** off somewhere. I would go to another dealership and get a 2nd opinion because that's horsecrap.
